John F. Kennedy High school in Cleveland, Ohio, opened in the fall (August) of 1965, not 1966. 1966 was its first full year of operation.76.169.116.69 (talk) 23:53, 19 March 2014 (UTC)James O. Johnson, alumnus[1][reply]

Your recollection is probably correct, but we cannot use it as a wp:rs. I have added a citation needed tag. I looked to see if I could find something online, but failed. Perhaps you can provide a source.--S Philbrick(Talk) 15:28, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The former home to John F. Kennedy High School and its recreation center could be torn down soon.

The Cleveland Metropolitan School District is scheduled to go before the City Planning Commission on Friday to seek approval for demolition of the historic buildings located on Harvard Avenue near the Lee-Harvard Shopping Center.

Both buildings have been vacant and subject to vandalism since closing in 2020, according to the demolition plans submitted to the city. In a presentation to the commission, CMSD said it plans to eliminate parking lots and tear down the football field bleachers.

The football field and running track, however, would remain and be kept by the school system; other property on the site would be turned over to the city for future development.

The high school was closed and a new one built as part of land swap deal between the school district and the city of Cleveland. The high school was built in 1964, with the recreation center constructed in 1971.

The new 192,000 square-foot JFK High School and recreation center opened in 2020. Located about 1.5 miles from the old building on Miles and Lee roads, cost about $45 million - $36 million for the school and $9 million for the recreation center $9 million. The campus has two freshman academies." (Published: Jan. 19, 2023, 9:30 a.m. Cleveland.com) Cdtjacksonsr (talk) 18:32, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
