A Wiki Letter to Journalists

[edit]

Hello, here are a few questions I think would be good to ask Josh Schwartz in an interview. They would also benefit this Wiki article:

  • What is Schwartz's job like as a television producer of a series? How much time does he spend thinking about writing scripts versus the duties of an executive producer?
  • Is Schwartz also to be the director of the adaptation he wrote of Looking for Alaska?
  • Does Schwartz have an interest in directing TV episodes? Will Looking for Alaska be his first directorial stint? Joss Whedon reached a point where he would always direct any episodes he wrote and seemed to take advantage of the opportunity to direct episodes on his shows. Has Schwartz soaked up any directing experience while on shows like The O.C. and will he do more such soaking up of directing experience on Chuck and Gossip Girls?
  • What kind of collaboration did he and does he still do with Bob DeLaurentis, and the producers McG and Stephanie Savage at Wonderland Sound and Vision? What other significant relationships does Schwartz have with TV people?
  • Was Schwartz in fact a writer for a period of time on the Joe Bonilla Show as IMDB states?
  • What are some of the pilots that Schwartz conceived/wrote/produced but never took off? There are hints in the media of a pilot called Alphabet City, written but not produced, and an unnamed project fielded with director Thomas Schlamme to NBC as reported vaguely by the Hollywood Reporter here [1]?
  • In retrospect, was Schwartz's first sold screenplay Providence flawed? Why wasn't it made? Did it have a chance?
  • Has Schwartz done any other script doctor work other than the J.J. Abrams Superman script?
  • Was it the members of the Pike fraternity house that opened his eyes to the Newport Beach lifestyle?

I hope these are innocent enough questions. Non-interrogative. Best of luck, BillDeanCarter 07:55, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Black Eyed Peas

[edit]

When were Black Eyed Peas featured on "The OC"?

In the first pilot episode of S1. (Hands Up)

Good references

[edit]
  1. Schwartz talks about what he wanted to do and how he came up with The O.C. [2]
  2. McG then returned and the picture seemed close to the start gate, even as he brought in "OC" creator Josh Schwartz to do a quick polish on Abrams' script.[3]
  3. on failed pilot Athens [4]
  4. Dropped out from USC in 1997 and finally graduated in 1999? USC says he graduated in 1999 [5] others, like Suzanne C. Ryan at Boston Globe say he dropped out. I believe he "briefly dropped out". Difficult to tell what happened. How long was the program? He graduated from Wheeler School in 1994. Attended USC in 1995? 1997 dropped out when he sold his screenplay. Continued taking courses to graduate in 1999?

Improvements to be made

[edit]
  • the lead section -- Mention: Selling screenplay while at USC. Going on to create The O.C. And finally what's in store: Gossip Girls, Chuck, and Looking for Alaska.
  • The planning leading up to The O.C. pilot... difficulties.. ideas, meetings with McG and Savage... formulating.-BillDeanCarter 00:28, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
