1991 or 1997?

[edit]

The station's history given in the article originally stated that the station signed on in 1991, however, the FCC's documents for the station show it to have been licensed in 1997. Was there originally a low-power station on channel 55 here? If so, what were its call letters? Also, the article for HTVN marks this as the flagship station for the (now-defunct) Spanish-language network, a fact which is reinforced by the station's entry at W9WI. This contrasts rather sharply with the station history originally given in the article, which stated that this station aired mostly paid programming, shopping, and (on rare occasions) sports during the time period the network was in operation. In light of all this, I have attempted to re-write the given history to match the few verifiable facts about the station. --AlexDW 12:50, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I remember watching christian music videos on channel 55 in the early 90's. James Johnson, Arlington, Texas —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.251.131.64 (talk) 02:26, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Station Originated in 1990

[edit]

According to another source, KLDT was actually originated in 1990 as a religious station, and licensed under 2 owners.

Station originated in 1997, not 1990

[edit]

The FCC, a reliable source, lists the station as beginning in 1997, not 1990. Dallas-Fort Worth TV Station History, the other source cited, is interesting and is probably accurate, but it cannot be cited on its own, as it does not meet the qualifications as a reliable source.

Both assertions are technically correct. The original KLDT was founded in 1990, but their license was revoked by the FCC in 1997 and Johnson Broadcasting was awarded the frequency. Balthrop (talk) 05:08, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The initial callsign of the current station was KAVB. There was another station, with another owner and another license, broadcasting in Lake Dallas, Texas on channel 55. The original construction permit for the current station clearly shows that it was mutually exclusive with the previous license. I have included an account of the old KLDT, but removed the previous text, as it was plagiarized from DFW TV Station History, a copyright violation, and as such, had to be deleted on sight. I had also seen an interesting account of the old KLDT on a blog of one who claimed to have been an employee, but again, a blog is not a reliable source, so could not be cited. If a reliable source can be found with these accounts, the information can be put back into the article. dhett (talk contribs) 22:29, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am the author of the blog mentioned above. A search of the Dallas Morning News archive, which should be a reliable source, confirms that the original KLDT broadcast Christian music videos in 1991. Balthrop (talk) 05:16, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: 1990 or 1997 start-up date

[edit]

You know the biggest laugh? Even after the first KLDT was forced to shut down, Paragon Cable in Irving (now taken over by Time Warner Cable) still had it listed on channel 22 from the early 1990s to 2004. Mbrstooge (talk) 04:53, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
