Removing "Notable" uses of Kevin MacLeod's music section
[edit]Hello. I am removing the section of the article listing "Notable" uses of Kevin MacLeod's music. This is simply an informal non-encyclopedic list that is completely subjective to the people adding to it. I was going to replace this with a filmography section listing official credits of MacLeod's music in film and such, however I cannot find reliable sources to back up official credits. Removing uncited list of YouTube channels from the introduction
[edit]The introduction paragraph currently has a seemingly random list of YouTube channels that have used Kevin MacLeod's music. There is no citation for this information, and it seems strange to list channels like this because considering the nature of his work there must be thousands if not tens of thousands of YouTube channels using his music. For that reason I'm removing this information. If you have a problem with this, please let me know on this talk page or my user talk page, and try and find a citation for the information before readding it. —turdastalk - contribs 06:28, 14 November 2019 (UTC)
- The page should only list things like feature films and big internet projects to reduce clutter RmationYT (talk) 15:07, 4 September 2024 (UTC)

Release with BFDI
[edit]Hi, there is an edit war in progress about including a 2024 release with YouTubers Cary and Michael Huang who are the creators of Battle for Dream Island (BFDI), sourced to Kevin MacLeod's website https://incompetech.com/wordpress/2024/04/first-ever-merch/. It is being frequently removed due to WP:BFDI, but aside from the BFDI issue, I don't think this content merits mention, as it's a trivial mention on the subject's own website. Per WP:NOTEVERYTHING, Wikipedia should not include every true fact or detail, but rather a summary of accepted knowledge based on WP:WEIGHT. Since this release has not been reported in WP:SECONDARY sources, I do not believe it merits inclusion.

- Hey, cool to include but just need to cite an appropriate source. Wikipedia is not a newspaper so we cite the journalism, not create the journalism. Ask if questions. Bluerasberry (talk) 21:15, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
- imo if two important milestones of his are related to something Wikipedia isn’t allowed to make a page about, it should still be written down tbh. like it’s more about the person not the content RmationYT (talk) 15:06, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
- I agree that WP:BFDI is not why the collaborative album shouldn't be here, but I'd also like to add that I feel that that essay is somewhat misinterpreted. It doesn't say that BFDI shouldn't have a Wikipedia article because it's not good enough, but rather because it's not notable enough. I believe that this will change in time, but more importantly, It doesn't mean that BFDI shouldn't be mentioned when it is relevant. If the album was a more direct part of Kevin MacLeod's discography, it would have no reason not to be included in the article. (I also feel that 10003 Caryhuang's name-meaning should mention Huang's most important work.) MultPod (talk) 18:40, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
- After recently rewriting much of this article, I'm not convinced there should not be a Discography section at all. None of the albums/singles have articles, and I'm seeing very few, if any, reliable independent sources discussing any of them. The section is entirely unsourced, and in my mind should be removed entirely. – Aza24 (talk) 18:49, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
- A music artist's discography seems to relevent to remove. MultPod (talk) 01:34, 21 September 2024 (UTC)

Would it be possible to continue the discussion on this? I am hoping to reach a consensus on Wikipedia's stance on BFDI within pages such as this one and Tomska, as there have also been recent edit wars on that page for the same reason as well. I think finding a consistent ruling for these situations would help clear up confusion especially if it can be included on the WP:BFDI page as I have been seeing a lot of fans from said community confused on Wikipedia's stance regarding this topic. 2603:8001:E600:2741:84F0:FF67:9112:BA53 (talk) 09:20, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
- The consistent recommendation is simply to cite WP:Reliable sources, and to expect removal of any claim which lacks such a citation. The common situation with BFDI and Kevin MacLeod is that audiences like their content but in both cases, despite widespread popularity, they do not attract journalism or reviews.
