Size?

[edit]

Is this a town or a village (as claimed in the article about Circassians)? How large is the population? Wipe 08:50, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pal.rem site

[edit]

User:Ynhockey: you write that it has been discussed (to remove links to the pal.rem site),as an WP:EL. Where is that discussion? Huldra (talk) 20:57, 30 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately I could only find RS/N discussions about it, I think the one I remember is from an RfC, not EL/N (indeed I didn't find anything like that at EL/N). However, the logic is simple: besides being a website with a clear agenda that's beyond the pale for Wikipedia, it is also run or affiliated with a user who was both banned and permanently blocked from Wikipedia. This is a big no-no as such a user can indirectly influence the content on Wikipedia if links to his site are present in many articles. Besides, the links don't offer any unique value because PR aggregates content and does not write its own. It might be better to refer to the original sources that it cites, some of which are available online and others in book format. —Ynhockey (Talk) 09:02, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Right, AFAIK, it has never been discussed at WP:EL/N ..it has been discussed at WP:RS/N, where it has generally been accepted not to use it as a RS, but as an EL. Therefor I am surprised that you wrote "this has been discussed", when you removed it as EL. Huldra (talk) 21:51, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

One place with two entries in Wiki or two places each with an entry in Wiki?

[edit]

Wiki has an entry for Kfar Kanna at Grid position 191/236 PAL and it has another for Kfar Kanna at Grid position 182/239 PAL.

If those are two separate places, the beginning of each article should cross-refer to the other as a warning to the reader not to confuse the two (at the moment, each article cross-refers only to a place in Lebanon, but that is not enough).

Or, if there is a single Kafr Kanna in Israel, the two articles need to be merged.S. Valkemirer (talk) 18:15, 10 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

They are different places about 10km apart. Also their names are slightly different. Zerotalk 01:27, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Subject of instruction versus medium of instruction

[edit]

The article reads "The village school teaches in Circassian, Hebrew, Arabic and English.[25"

The four languages are taught as subjects of instruction, but it is hard to believe that all four are media of instruction (the words "taught in" imply the latter).S. Valkemirer (talk)

It seems to me that the source indicates a mixture of the two. It mentions science lessons taught in Circassian, which is media of instruction, and English lessons taught in English with Hebrew explanation, which is subject of instruction. Zerotalk 01:33, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
