Origin of "Kickapoo" name

[edit]

Since the Kickapoo people are an indigenous people to the states of Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas, it would be a good idea if the origin of the name "Kickapoo" in this drink's name were at least mentioned briefly in this article. 173.89.236.187 (talk) 03:41, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is a great suggestion. We will need to have some source that mentions how Al Capp came to know the Kickapoo people and/or their beverages. For now, a 'see also' mention is appropriate. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 13:53, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I understand that Kickapoo Joy Juice is a light-hearted reference to a cartoon strip (which I enjoyed as a child) and a current beverage, but it has an older history. The 19th century Kickapoo Patented Medicine shows sold this stuff, which often contained opiods, with exaggerated claims of magic healing properties [1] shows that Al Capp got the name from traveling medicine shows. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:648:8700:1580:68A9:16CF:84D5:DE1E (talk) 15:50, 24 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

(8 years later) Is the origin/etymology of the word "Kickapoo" in this beverage's name eventually going to be added to this article? It's not very encyclopedic that this very basic information isn't yet included in the current version of this article. 76.190.213.189 (talk) 03:24, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
