Abbreviation as Title

[edit]

I was about to update the links that point to this article. However, I am concerned about the article title. "Kokinshū" is an abbreviation. The full title is "Kokin Wakashū". While an abbreviation and an acronym are different, WP:NCA may arguably be of some reference: "Avoid the use of acronyms in page naming unless the term you are naming is almost exclusively known only by its acronyms and is widely known and used in that form". While "Kokinshū" is often used, it is far from exclusive and usually used only after giving the full name first. I think it would be appropriate to move the page to "Kokin Wakashū" and then freely use "Kokinshū" after explaining the abbreviation (as it currently done). Enough redirects already exist to assist with various other spellings. The page was just moved a few days ago so I would like to raise the topic before moving it again. Any comments? I won't object to moving it to Kokin Wakashū or leaving it as Kokinshū. However, I strenuously object to Kokin-wakashu, which was what it was named when I moved it to Kokinshū. Kaustuv Chaudhuri 18:05, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I fully agree that the macron is required. I do not think the hyphen is needed. I will wait a little longer for further comments. Bendono 00:10, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
There hasn't been any further comments, so I have decided to move the page to Kokin Wakashū as discussed. However, it turns out that I will need administrator assistance. I will make that request. Once the move is completed, I will fix the various links. Bendono 03:42, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
