Different venue

Hi. Currently the article redirects to Haus der Kulturen der Welt, which I'm not sure is appropriate. As Huon pointed out, this is pretty much a generic term for "concert hall". However, Jahrhunderthalle seems to have been constructed in the early 1960s. while Evangp's article is, according to the picture, a structure which was constructed in the late 1940s. However, the 2 refs in Evangp's stub don't clearly indicate which structure they are referring to. Indeed, the poster may simply be referring to the generic term, while the concert list may be for the newer venue (the source, setlist.fm does indicate that they are separate venues, but setlist.fm is not a reliable source). Rather than ping pong back and forth, it would be nice if there was an earlier structure, if some concrete references could be found for it. Until such time, as per WP:BRD, it should remain as a redirect. The picture used by Evangp is taken from the German Federal archives, which is an incredibly reliable source, however, it seems to indicate that the use of Kongreßhalle is in the generic sense, rather than the actual name of the facility. The text was about the Jahrhunderthalle (going by the setlist), the image is of what's now part of Hessischer Rundfunk headquarters, the so-called Rundbau (round building), discussed in Broadcasting House Dornbusch. Compare de:Hessischer Rundfunk#Die „Goldhalle“, das Foyer des Sendesaals which also uses the image. I reverted to the redirect because despite setlist.fm, "Kongreßhalle" doesn't seem a common name for the Jahrhunderthalle (or for the Rundbau, for that matter) and we had the redirect earlier. German Wikipedia has a disambiguation page at de:Kongresshalle, but I don't think we have English articles on many of those buildings. We do have Alte Kongresshalle, Nazi party rally grounds#Kongresshalle (Congress Hall), Sport- und Kongresshalle and Kongreßhalle (Saarbrücken), so disambiguation seems to be the way to go here, too. (edit conflict)It's more a generic term for "convention hall" than "concert hall", which would be Konzerthalle. It seems there are several venues that have been known as Kongreßhalle at some point in their history, in which case a disambiguation page rather than a redirect or full article would be the best solution. So far, we know of:

Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin
Jahrhunderthalle in Frankfurt
The venue discussed in this version of the current page; if the photo given there is correct, then that venue is the same thing as the Broadcasting House Dornbusch, since that's the building shown under construction in File:Bundesarchiv Bild 183-2005-0717-505, Frankfurt-Main, Bau Kongresshalle.jpg to judge from the coordinates given in that photo.

I agree and have created the disambiguation page at Kongresshalle. I have not added the Jahrhunderthalle because neither the English nor the German article mentioned "Kongresshalle" as an alternative name. Huon (talk) 16:29, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
