North Korean hip hop

[edit]

How about some information on some North Korean hip hop?

No such thing. I highly doubt hip-hop music pervaded North Korean culture. ~Jhn
Concur with the above assessment. -lastofthemusicians —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thelastofthemusicians (talkcontribs) 16:58, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removing the Korean American hip hop section

[edit]

The whole section itself is unsourced and has little to do with hip hop in Korea. Akkies (talk) 11:52, 25 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What to do with Notable artists subheading?

[edit]

I feel like this entire section is subjective, and it would be better to either link to 'Category:South Korean hip hop musicians' (and other relevant categories) or to only list artists with English Wikipedia articles who fall into those categories. I realize there are a lot of artists (and crews and labels and etc) who don't have English Wikipedia articles, but I think there's a lot of potential for vandalism and non-notable artists being added as it stands. Would love to hear others' opinions on how to handle this to make the page as reliable as possible! Lenoresm (talk) 15:54, 29 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed that this list needs works. Notable implies they are notable enough to have their own English wikipedia article. But it's just become a list of everything, pretty subjective. Personally I don't see how to highlight notables without deleting it and restarting it from scratch. Maybe only artists that are important to reference in the text (and not just as a passing mention but actually how they influenced Korean hip hop) Evaders99 (talk) 04:24, 30 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for this. I've been doing a major overhaul of the entire article because it was almost completely unsourced, and I've tried to highlight notable artists in the new History section that I created. I also looked at the List of individual K-pop artists article to see how it handles this question, and I see that the article is semi-protected, so I assume there was a lot of subjective editing going on there too, so now I'm not sure if starting from scratch will make a difference. Lenoresm (talk) 03:48, 2 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Lenoresm, thanks for all of your edits on this article! It's looking so much better. Would you mind if I added Crush (singer) and Zion.T to the list of artists? EDIT: On second thoughts, maybe it would be better as you suggested to improve and link to the following categories: South Korean hip hop musicians, South Korean male rappers, South Korean female rappers, Rappers from Seoul, South Korean hip hop groups, South Korean hip hop record producers, South Korean hip hop singers. I think that would make the article more focused and instructive. Yannaynay (talk) 16:21, 6 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Yannaynay! I think it's a good idea to improve those categories, so I will start adding appropriate articles to them (and I hope you'll help if you can). Once they're in better shape, I'll likely link the categories in this article. Still open to feedback on what seems best! Lenoresm (talk) 18:14, 6 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

UPDATE: I think I've cleaned up all the related categories, so they should all fall under 'Category:South Korean hip hop' now. I'd recommend putting articles under the following categories:

  • Category:South Korean hip hop groups‎
  • Category:South Korean hip hop record producers‎
  • Category:South Korean hip hop singers‎ (This is where I put artists like Crush (singer) and Zion.T but please move them if you think there's a better place.)
  • Category:South Korean female rappers‎
  • Category:South Korean male rappers‎
  • Category:Rappers from Seoul‎
  • Category:South Korean hip hop record labels‎

I'd recommend not using the header 'Category:South Korean hip hop musicians' since the above sub-categories are more specific. Lenoresm (talk) 19:45, 6 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Lenoresm & Yannaynay How big is too big for this list? As long as the list is there, there will be an add/remove battle going on. Also, the list seems more popular than the history. Jaewon [Talk] 21:51, 18 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Lenoresm, I didn't see your update before but amazing work on all the categories, and I agree with what you said above- and Jaewon, that's a good point- maybe it is time to remove the list and link to the categories mentioned? Yannaynay (talk) 23:29, 18 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yannaynay, We could move the list to List of South Korean musicians since about half of them are already listed there. Jaewon [Talk] 14:20, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Moving the list

[edit]

@Evaders99, Lenoresm, and Yannaynay: Do you agree that the list should be moved to List of South Korean musicians? Jaewon [Talk] 16:00, 8 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Jaewon I agree that the artists in the list should be included in List of South Korean musicians also, provided that they are South Korean in nationality. Once that's done, I will probably remove the list and add the categories mentioned above to the "See also". So if you're willing to, go ahead and move the list :) Yannaynay (talk) 22:12, 8 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No problem with moving it either. I don't think its really important to keep, but someone must like it enough. 04:03, 9 September 2016 (UTC)

Adding African American Influence section

[edit]

Hello! I am planning on adding a section about African American influence, is there anything I should be aware of before posting? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aeoliva1 (talkcontribs) 14:48, 6 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Can Someone Review the H1ghr Music wiki page

[edit]

Its been a couple months since I edited it (after the last review it got). I don't see any errors with the sources so can someone else look through it with fresh eyes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Michie740 (talkcontribs) 04:43, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Romanization

[edit]

Please use Revised Romanization, since it's the official standard form of romanization in South Korea. McCune-Reischauer is outdated and no longer used outside of North Korea. Ktaec (talk) 10:18, 20 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Fashion

[edit]

This section is mostly a blatant promotion of YG Entertainment, should be updated or removed. Ktaec (talk) 11:58, 20 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
