Kylian Mbappe's goals

[edit]

Mbappe's goals are 4, not 3 2404:C0:9810:0:0:0:8BD:27E7 (talk) 22:28, 14 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Only league goals go into the infobox. Kante4 (talk) 23:04, 14 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sweden rape investigation allegations

[edit]

A news story broke that Mbappé may be part of a rape investigation in Stockholm. Sweden's Prosecution Authority confirmed that "a criminal report has been submitted to the police", but no suspects have been named. According to Goal, the claim that Mbappé was a suspect in this investigation came from Aftonbladet, Expressen, and Sveriges Television, two of which are tabloids.

Mbappé being suspected of a rape has not even been confirmed yet, therefore it is inappropriate to include mention of this at this point. A claim of a criminal act, especially one such as heinous as rape, should have multiple reliable sources. Because of this, I have removed the mention of the investigation into Mbappé at this time, pending any potential future developments. Raskuly (talk) 17:10, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

you're right, except that this story has already had a huge impact on medias (and was acknowledged by Mbappé himself on X).
It it turns out that Mbappé is the suspect, it must be mentioned.
If not, also, since it would be an attempt to ruin his reputation (possibly by the PSG) with a huge repercussions. Df (talk) 23:59, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If this has serious implications on his career irregardless of whether or not he is named as a suspect by Swedish authorities, then sure it should be mentioned, but at this point this seems to be in the realm of WP:NOTNEWS unless Mbappé is named as a suspect. Raskuly (talk) 03:35, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There is no hurry to update the page until he is confirmed a suspect. Mbappe has also claimed that this is an attempt to smear him before a hearing on his ongoing dispute with PSG on unpaid wages. See relevant quotes from ChannelNewsAsia article below:
Contacted by AFP on Monday, Mbappe's entourage said it had no knowledge of a legal complaint made against him.
On Monday, Mbappe himself claimed in a post on X that there was a link between the Aftonbladet report and his hearing before a French league committee on Tuesday, in his bitter dispute with his former club Paris Saint-Germain over what he says are unpaid wages
If it has to be reported in his wiki page, Mbappe's claim above should be included too to maintain fairness and neutrality point of view. Globallycz (talk) 07:11, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@CassiJevenn: See this please. There are no names named (only from media) so it should not be in the article right now. Swedish prosecutor said "can't confirm there is a suspect"... Kante4 (talk) 13:36, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. But if the case evolves I'll revert the changes! CassiJevenn (talk) 13:46, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Update @Kante4 @Raskuly @Df: In Sweden, it doesn't work like most countries ... that's why Mbappé's name is not mentioned in the criminal report because a name can only be shared if the person is an adult and has been incarcerated for +2 weeks. A name cannot be shared for an open/ongoing case.

So based on that, I think it worth adding the situation on his WP page CassiJevenn (talk) 15:43, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If it is mentioned, as @Globallycz said above, the statements released by Mbappé and his lawyers should also be included, and an explanation of why he has not been named publicly as a suspect by Swedish authorities. Raskuly (talk) 15:55, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
His name is not officially named so it should not be included. We don't rely on "reports". Kante4 (talk) 16:19, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine by me and at this point without him officially being named as a suspect I do not believe it should be included, but if the consensus was to include it then those things should also be mentioned, that is all. Raskuly (talk) 16:30, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The french article you quoted merely reinforced our understanding that Mbappe has not been officially identified as a suspect by the legal authority in Sweden. As translated below.
"While the Swedish press claims that this complaint targets the French international, the justice system does not mention the player's name. "And it is not about to do so," assures a local journalist."
Your point that Mbappe was not named because a name can only be shared if the person is an adult and has been incarcerated for +2 weeks does not confirm he is already a suspect. We would not know your point on the Swedish legal system is valid or not. It might be just your attempt to push your desire through. If it is valid, it does not change the fact that there is currently no reliable source to confirm he is a suspect and is being investigated. Globallycz (talk) 17:10, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There is SO MUCH secrecy in swedish criminal investigations that paparazzi were able to take and publish a picture of the suspect even before he committed his crime, and tabloid journalists were able to read the secret criminal report to publish the name of the suspect... Df (talk) 17:30, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It is easy for any media to take and publish a photo of Mbappe. Doing that doesnt make him a suspect. Tabloid journalism tends to sensationalise news without any proof of truth. They dont need to read police report to point finger at Mbappe if they wish to. Globallycz (talk) 19:08, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
