References in lead
[edit]According to WP:MOS, there shouldn't be references in the lead section. How do I comply with MOS without losing my sources? —La Pianista (T•C) 02:03, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
- Resolved, nvm. —La Pianista ♫ ♪ 07:19, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Issues
[edit]- "The piece was debuted at the New Carlton Hotel in Paris, where it was transcribed for strings and performed by a popular Romany band.[1] "
- Any way to reword "was debuted"? Sounds awkward. Also confusing - so it is a piece for solo piano, but its debut was performed by strings?
- That's how I took it from Google Books. I'll give it a second look, though.

- "Despite its translation, La Plus que Lente was not meant to be played slowly; "lente," in this context, refers to the fashionable valse lente genre that Debussy targeted."
- Debussy "targeted"? Please clarify.
- Debussy was aiming for that type of audience. Will reword directly.
- Update: Done. —La Pianista (T•C) 04:22, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

- "However, others point to various sources of inspiration, some citing the resemblance between this waltz and Debussy's earlier work, Ballade.[2]"
- Ballade influenced the waltz? I'm not sure if this requires any fixing, just want a clarification. Later, pls add other "sources of inspiration" - the Ballade isn't "various sources", is it? Or am I missing something?
- No, I meant to say that Debussy perhaps thought of it beforehand and slipped it incognito into the Ballade. Again, I'll have to check my sources for that.
- Hm. Link is dead. I think I'll need more time on that. —La Pianista (T•C) 06:03, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
- Referring to "All music guide to classical music"? I found the "About this book" page on Google books, but I'm not sure if they have preview anymore - not familiar w/ Google bks, can't say much. Icy // ♫ 00:09, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
- Ja, but the preview's gone. -_- —La Pianista (T•C) 01:02, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

- "More recently, La Plus que Lente has been re-arranged and performed by notable jazz musicians such as Gil Evans.[3]"
- He the only one? I didn't check the source, ignore if it says various people.
- No, there were others. Once more, it's back to the sources for me.

Just scanning, don't have much time. Nice work :) Icy // ♫ 03:00, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks! Actually, I think that was pretty thorough, considering its length. :) —La Pianista (T•C) 03:09, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

La plus que Lente → La plus que lente — Standard capitalization per WP:CAPM. (Perhaps I messed this up by making a mistake in an earlier move?)—Kleinzach 09:00, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
- Shouldn't this be at RMassist? Seems to be an uncontroversial move blocked only by the history in the proposed page. --Jubilee♫clipman 18:45, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Pronunciation of 'plus'
[edit]The title of this work is often mispronounced as French pronunciation: [laplykəˈlɑ̃t]. The s should, indeed, be pronounced.
- Can we have cite for this, please? It seems a very non-standard way of pronouncing the French word 'plus'. -- Jack of Oz ... speak! ... 20:46, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
No, the "s" in the French word "plus" is often pronounced—-even without an elision with a following vowel. It's not "non-standard", especially not "very non-standard". TheScotch (talk) 02:38, 13 February 2022 (UTC)
