Whoa whoa whoa. Fagle's version kind of sucks. I'm gonna make it neutral, at the very least. (See the discussion linked at the bottom) --75.101.92.98 (talk) 08:01, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Recent quotation"

[edit]

Why is "sunt lacrimae rerum" described in the intro as something "recent quotations" have included? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 100.1.17.132 (talk) 16:28, 20 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

War Memorials

[edit]

How is quotation on war memorials out of context? Aeneas makes the original observation on what is essentially a war memorial. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 100.1.17.132 (talk) 16:31, 20 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This paragraph implies that the use of the phrase to mean something like "life has its sorrows" is somehow improper. It's true that the words in the Aenead are followed by other words which mean something else, but that doesn't mean that they themselves mean less than they do. I suggest deleting the unsourced paragraph. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:801:1:9E70:ED9B:141:613C:F972 (talk) 12:12, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
