You'd never learn from reading this article that a lot of the fun many people find in reading the story comes from following the brazen manipulative shamelessness of Lady Susan's actions, as she almost succeeds in entrapping a man almost ten years younger than herself in marriage while outwardly observing most of the convetions of decorous lady-like behavior of the day... The text of the article reads as if it has been copied from one or two paragraphs in a book or essay, perhaps the introduction to a critical edition. It certainly needs to be rewritten in a more encyclopedic style, concentrating on factual information rather than a subjective discussion of the work's literary merits.--GagHalfrunt 13:57, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, to me it reads more like the first few paragraphs of a encyclopedia entry, as it is not subjective but rather establishing the importance/significance of this work as opposed to, for example, a year's worth of emails of a high school's senior class collated by date and published as a book. While the latter would certainly be of interest to an anthropologist, sociologist, or voyeur, one could hardly call such a volume a novel.--71.76.237.208 (talk) 21:08, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Characters

[edit]

I really think there should be a character list describing the main characters. --Hamnahkhalid (talk) 19:42, 14 June 2009 (UTC)HamnahKhalid[reply]

I'm tired of reverting this, so I'll let others decide if it should be there. Meanwhile the reference should go in the article, not just in the edit summary. Rothorpe (talk) 14:30, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
