Reviewer: Aussie Article Writer (talk · contribs) 18:53, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
I note there is a previous PR: Wikipedia:Peer review/Larisa Iordache/archive1. Could I ask if all the points were addressed?
Regardless, really amazing article - quite well researched, excellent density of citations.
- date of birth requires a reliable source, otherwise it is a violation of WP:DOB
- quotes should be prefaced by context. So for instance, there is a quote about Câmpeanu-Silişteanu noticing her speed, but to connect this quote we need to state more explicitly to the previous point.
I will address each GA point:
- Well written
- prose is clear and understandable. It does not flow as easily as an FA grade article, but I may be able to help with that.
- the structure is excellent, lead section is three paragraphs long which is on the border of the ecessive length, but I think it is acceptable. I see no problematic phrases.
- Verifiable and NOR
- I cannot see any original research
- referencing seems excellent
- I am not a domain expert, so it is somewhat hard for me to comment on the quality of the linked news articles. Also, I don’t speak Romanian.
- Coverage
- Seems to cover the life of the subject well, good table summary of achievements
- does not diverge from the topic
- Neutrality
- the use of quotes potentially needs some contextualising, this is a minor issue and perhaps my own personal bug bear; otherwise it is quite neutral in tone
- Stability
- seems fine
- Illustrated
- use of images is excellent, well done
Hope this is helpful! Excellent work from the contributor(s). - Aussie Article Writer (talk) 18:53, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
Response
[edit]Hi @Aussie Article Writer, thanks for reviewing!
- I note there is a previous PR: Wikipedia:Peer review/Larisa Iordache/archive1. Could I ask if all the points were addressed? Yes, they were back when the review was done in 2014.
- date of birth requires a reliable source, otherwise it is a violation of WP:DOB. Done
- quotes should be prefaced by context. So for instance, there is a quote about Câmpeanu-Silişteanu noticing her speed, but to connect this quote we need to state more explicitly to the previous point. Done I added more context to the quotes throughout the article, but if you think it's not enough, let me know
Thank you! -Riley1012 (talk) 18:15, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Riley1012: well done, this os now categorised as a GA. I left you a message in your talk page for a further suggestion, but not one that affects GA status. - Aussie Article Writer (talk) 23:28, 11 June 2021 (UTC)
Did you know nomination
[edit]- The following is an archived discussion of the DYK nomination of the article below. Please do not modify this page. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as this nomination's talk page, the article's talk page or Wikipedia talk:Did you know), unless there is consensus to re-open the discussion at this page. The result was: promoted by MeegsC (talk) 13:23, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
- ... that Larisa Iordache (pictured) is the second most decorated gymnast in the history of the European Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships with sixteen medals? Source: European Gymnastics
- Comment: GA nomination approved 11 June, exempt from QPQ
Improved to Good Article status by Riley1012 (talk). Self-nominated at 00:47, 12 June 2021 (UTC).
- The article was promoted to Good Article status on 12 June. It is new enough, long enough, well-referenced, and neutrally written. Earwig picks up only the direct quotes which should be fine. The hook is cited-inline in the article and is interesting. The hook has a picture which is freely licensed, used in the article, and easily discernible at 100px. QPQ is not needed since this the nominator's second nominationn. Good to go! Ashleyyoursmile! 16:56, 14 June 2021 (UTC)
- Riley1012, I was going to promote this, but it's not clear what "at the European level" means. Is she the second most decorated gymnast in the history of those championships? Or Europe's second most decorated gymnast? Can you please clarify? MeegsC (talk) 09:34, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
- MeegsC, I meant at the history of the European Championships -Riley1012 (talk) 23:00, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
- Riley1012, can we make the hook something along the lines of " ... that Larisa Iordache (pictured) is the second most decorated gymnast in the history of the European Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships with sixteen medals?" Because the hook as it stands is not clear. MeegsC (talk) 07:08, 20 July 2021 (UTC)
- MeegsC, Yes, your proposed hook makes much more sense. I have changed it. -Riley1012 (talk) 18:23, 20 July 2021 (UTC)
