The more I think about it, it seems to me that Latreillia should be the crab, with a hatnote pointing to the fly.--Curtis Clark (talk) 17:53, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, partly. That would be consistent with the "principle of two", and I think that would be better in the long run. In the short term, though, after some thought I made the dab page because of the pages I found elsewhere on the web that mash together the two genera. I think the key point is that the fly is a junior homonym. If it were a plant and animal, a dab page would be just the ticket. But, by the ICZN, there is no fly named Latreillia. Seekers for the crab shouldn't have the second jump, and seekers for the fly will not have to jump further.
