[edit]I have completed the B class checklist on this article and believe that it almost meets the criteria for B class. As military history project does not have a C class, unfortunately it therefore must be ranked as a Start class. There are a number of paragraphs without in-line citations in the section above the list. If these could be added in the article could probably be re-assessed. I would suggest possibly also consolidating the prose in this part, as there are a few one sentence paragraphs that could be combined. Once this has been done, you might like to get it re-assessed by adding it to the list at WP:MHA. Hope this helps. AustralianRupert (talk) 14:16, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
"Australian" generals
[edit]The list now contains two officers who held the rank of lieutenant general in the Australian Army without being Australians; Squires and Birdwood. Note that neither held the rank of major general in the Australian Army AFAIK. Hawkeye7 (talk) 05:02, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
- What do we know about Edward Hutton (British Army officer)?
- Chief of Army (Australia) says he was Lt Gen, but Bryce suggests that may not be the case.

- From the Gazette entries I can trace, he was promoted Lt Gen (in the British Army) on 7 November 1907[1], and retired on 26 December 1907.[2]. It's just possible he was given the rank of Lt Gen within Australia, but I would expect the substantive promotion to Lt Gen to say some thing like Maj-Gen (local Lt-Gen) in that case.
