Common names
[edit]Am I right in thinking (nearly) all the common names in this list should be lower case as per WP:Manual_of_Style/Capital_letters#Common_names? I'm happy to make the changes if a "Banksia Person" will confirm that is the case. Gderrin (talk) 23:13, 30 May 2016 (UTC)
- Yep. It is indeed the case....Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 08:45, 31 May 2016 (UTC)
A proposal
[edit]I propose to make the following changes to this list:
- list the species according to the Australian Plant Census with the six fossil species included;
- include subspecies and varieties from the APC, wikilinking only those that already have articles (such as Banksia armata var. ignicida);
- list the full binomial with the author(s) and the common names, reflected and referenced in the article;
- wikilink each author's name the first time it appears in the list;
- remove the numbers and the repeated linking of the states
... so that, for example the first three entries would appear as -
- Banksia acanthopoda (A.S.George) A.R.Mast & K.R.Thiele
- Banksia aculeata A.S.George - prickly banksia
- Banksia acuminata A.R.Mast & K.R.Thiele.

- thanks good idea, I have reduced it to two columns because it looked a little too cluttered as 3 columns Gnangarra 05:58, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
