[edit]The comments at the bottom (in French) are mostly rather POV. Also what is the criterion for appearing here? Justinc 00:48, 9 November 2005 (UTC)
- Page was moved from French Wikipedia and it has been cleaned up properly yet. Pcb21| Pete 09:38, 9 November 2005 (UTC)
- It seems a pretty random list. I really dont like the footnotes, as they are hard to read as well as POV. Justinc 10:57, 9 November 2005 (UTC)
- I will pick up the cleanup of this (first time doing a substantive Wikipedia edit, so feedback will be appreciated). I agree with the previous comments on the readability of the footnotes, though as someone with interest in champagne I appreciated some of the footnotes and found them to be useful POV; query if this is where they belong though. I will give this a bit of thought over the next few days. Mochajava97 11:03, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
- (For anyone watching...) Apologies for the delay in updating. I have made a change to the main champagne page to summarise general information on producers as a whole; this page will become a summary of producers organised by main houses and labels/marques. In the interim I note a number of changes have been made to the French champagne pages which may affect this section. Comments/thoughts welcomed. 86.139.169.105 21:21, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Is there some way to include in this list the amount of cases or bottles of wine produced? Could be quite interesting to see how influential these brands are relative to their size.Fmh1964 19:06, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
In its current state this article dangerously ressembles a list. Some items would fail the Wikipedia:Wikipedia_is_not_a_wine_guide test. I propose that we add a column that would try to show why or how the item is notable.

Presentation of each champagne house?
[edit]Should this page include (1) a short paragraph on each of champagne houses? or (2) a short paragraph on those champagne houses that do not meet the criteria to have their own wikipedia entry? It seems that some do not deserve to have their own wikipedia entries (see deletion of Philipponnat champagne entry, which had this text "Philipponnat is a small champagne house, based in Mareil-sur-Aÿ. Philipponat family advertises that it has been settled in the village of Ay since 1522 and that it Louis XIV has drank its champagne. Philipponnat produces several varieties of Pinot Noir-dominated champagnes, but its most well known product is a single-vineyard Clos des Goisses champagne. The Clos des Goisses vineyard, located on a south-facing bank of the Marne River, is composed of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay. Philipponnat also produces a Vintage Blanc de Blancs, called Grand Blanc, which is an exception to this house’s Pinot Noir-dominated champagnes.") — Preceding unsigned comment added by Topjur01 (talk • contribs) 21:54, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
