Reverse infringement
[edit]In June 2010, the article was quite rightly tagged for copyright investigation given its similarities to [1]. Investigation reveals that copyright infringement is almost certainly the other way around.
Take, for instance, the external website's description of Episode 51:
This is the final episode. The battle between Ueki and Hanon is in its midst, but quickly gets sour for Ueki as he continually uses his sacred weapons against Hanon. Each one of the sacred weapons come in contact, but just barely, as Hanon is able to tactically get the sacred weapons to hit, but not hurt him. Ueki finally gets down to only a few, and those quickly deteriorate. Just as things seem at their end, Mori, Sano, and Rinko all attack, managing to help out Ueki just enough…
The episode summary was added to our article with this edit in May 2006. The relevant portion in our article at the time was substantially different:
The final episode. The battle between Anon and Ueki is in its midst, but quickly gets sour for Ueki as he continually uses his Treasures against Anon. Each one hits, but just barely, as Anon is able to tactically get the treasures to hit, but not hurt him. Ueki finally gets down to only a few, and those quickly deteriorate. Just as things seem at their end, Ai, Rinko, and Sano all attack, managing to help out Ueki just enough.
This content remained substantially the same until this series of edits in December 2009. At that time, it was altered to take the form of the external site. It seems far more likely that the external site copied from us after that point than that the original editor in 2006 copied theirs with minimal alterations, following which three years later another contributor altered it back.
We do take copyright concerns seriously and appreciate contributors keeping an eye out for them. In this case, it seems likely that the content is ours. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:37, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
- I see. Thanks for investigating anyway. :) Guoguo12--Talk-- 15:54, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
