[edit]

I think this article is great, but I think Triton, Morgana, Melody, and Flounder should go back to their own articles, since they're important characters. I think this would be for characters like Max, Tip and Dash, Ariel's sisters, Ripjaw, the rays, Floatsam and Jetsom Grimbsy, the cheif, the maid, the kids and merkids in the sequel and the characters from the T.V series.--4444hhhh (talk) 00:57, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that they're important characters, but if they're all split into individual characters, they'll never get beyond "Stub" status. Annie D (talk) 01:31, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Tell you what. If any of the characters' sections are expanded, like really expanded and not with just repeats of the plots from the films and tv series, then they should definitely be split off into individual articles. Annie D (talk) 01:36, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You know what? I will expand them. But can I split them up, it's alot easier.--4444hhhh (talk) 21:11, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually you are right.--4444hhhh (talk) 02:02, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Chef Louis

[edit]

Aren't we forgetting our very own funny French chef? Better not forget to put him in. 68.228.149.192 (talk) 23:24, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sooo... When can Queen Athena or Marina Del Ray be added in?

[edit]

I'm Asking since Ariel has already gotten a part of her section in her Article on TLM3, plus, there's an article on TLM3 as well, and I thought, If she gets a section of TLM3 in her article, why can't Queen Athena and Marina Del Ray be mentioned in the characters of Disney's The Little Mermaid? Also, should we edit some of the characters sub-articles to mention their (known) role in TLM3? ~~Weedle_McHairybug~~

They can only be added once the movie is released, sadly. We gotta wait just a little bit more! Annie D (talk) 23:28, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request for comment on articles for individual television episodes and characters

[edit]

A request for comments has been started that could affect the inclusion or exclusion of episode and character, as well as other fiction articles. Please visit the discussion at Wikipedia_talk:Notability_(fiction)#Final_adoption_as_a_guideline. Ikip (talk) 11:19, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ariel's Sisters

[edit]

They each seem to have enough info to be expanded into their own sections. I will do that sometime, unless someone else beats me to it... Shadzane (talk) 23:31, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal

[edit]

I come with this proposal to merge the following characters into this list:

This is mainly because none of these characters, though obviously main characters in the film and the series, has managed to prove Notability outside The Little Mermaid franchise and Disney related-media. This means that none of these characters has recieved deep coverage by reliable secondary sources discussing the characters individually and not only as part of a review of the film/series/musical. Also, none of them has shown impact in popular culture individually (again, not as part of a homage to a song or the film). Because of that, I propose to merge them all into this list and make a clean-up since currently the list has excessive plot detail in extremely minor characters. Thoughts? --LoЯd ۞pεth 23:59, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think that with some clean-up and some added references, the Ursula article can be improved. The Eric and Triton articles could be merged... Not Sure about Sebastian--GroovySandwich 22:15, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

All four characters were merged into the page, with the majority of the content kept. This includes Ursula, who was merged per Wikipedia:Notability and Wikipedia:Burden of evidence. Since the creation of her article back in 2005 until this point, there are only 3 references and notability has not been established (unlike Ariel). Of course Ursula's article, as well as every article on Wikipedia, needs sources to be improved. It is the burden of those against an action to prove and establish notability by adding real-world sections with vast content (not just a couple of lines), with individual discussions of the character and not as part of a review on the film, as well as impact in popular culture. --LoЯd ۞pεth 03:15, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sebastian's full name

[edit]

I searched a little and find the name of Horatio Thelonious Ignacious Crustaceous Sebastian. Anybody got a reference for this? 71.129.38.122 (talk) 17:35, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Sea horse messenger, when introducing the audience in the concert hall, explicitly refers to him by that name. Weedle McHairybug (talk) 17:48, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I removed "primary" from primary tritagonist as its meaningless, there can only be one tritagonist — Preceding unsigned comment added by Probs a good idea (talkcontribs) 11:06, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Flounder's Actual species

[edit]

Flounder is a bright yellow and golden blue colored atlantic tropical fish called a yellow doctorfish (despite the name, he is not a flounder), but is more similar in appearance to the three pacific tropical fish species, such as a convict tang, a regal tang, and a clownfish.

Where did you get this information, and how do we know it is accurate? This is what we mean when we say "Please provide a source". The only place I can find this information is on blogs and other wikis, and we have no way of knowing how accurate they are. Koumz (talk) 14:30, 14 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Age of Eric

[edit]

I read that in the original film that Eric is celebrating a birthday. Sounds familiar though it's been so long since I saw the flick that I don't recall. If so, does anyone know if there is a visible cake and if it might have candles we could count to get some idea of his age?

I looked at the Prince Eric page prior to the merger and this is cited supporting him being 18 years old:

Singer, A. L. (1997). Disney's The Little Mermaid: Official Novelisation. Disney Press. ISBN 978-0786842025.

I am hoping to find a specific page and excerpt to verify the information before including it here though. I did find a "Junior Novelization" on google books. Page 30 has Ariel's "I'm sixteen years old" line but I have not yet been able to locate any reference to Eric. However this is published 2012 and ISBN is 0736429832, 9780736429832 so it is likely this is an abridged version which might have omitted details that this 1997 novelization might have included.

According to Textbooks the above cited number is the ISBN13 while the ISBN10 is 0786842024 if that might help in locating it.

The Gbooks profile for the 1997 is at https://books.google.ca/books?id=o_3SG2bjN1sC but I got no results searching eightteen or eight-teen or eighteen, while 18 only produced page 18. There is Ariel's quote about being sixteen again on page 20. Searching "years" gives page 7 with a bit about Grimsby being Eric's servant for years, so that verifies Eric being at least 2 years old, which is not particularly useful.

Unless someone knows how to search a string I'm not thinking of, this leads me to think that this bit about Eric being 18 might not actually be supported by this 1997 book. If I am wrong then I am hoping someone might direct me to which page and quote in there might do it. It is possible that GoogleBooks is only searching the limited number of chapters available in the preview so in that case the quote may be present on one of the ones not previewable.

It says section 1 (7) section 2 (11) and section 3 (16) and Copyright and 13 sections not shown. It has 96 pages in total. I am not sure if the numbers are how many pages are in each section (in which case you can only see 34é

i suggest an update of voice actor`s last names

[edit]

specially for people that are better known by other last names.84.212.73.96 (talk) 22:00, 24 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Veronica Taylor is "NOT!" Flounder

[edit]

Just to let everyone know on here and to clear things up, please don't add back Veronica Taylor back in the voice actor section of the infobox of Flounder. She confirmed in an interview that she never voiced him in Little Mermaid's Island, several people on this article keep thinking it's her because of IMDb were it also say's she voices her in the show, IMDb is a mistake and some random person added it on their. So, as for her respect, please don't add her back in there. 2600:1000:B02F:9134:CC51:D826:C553:804E (talk) 21:01, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sebastian article merged with this one

[edit]

As Sebastian does not seem notable enough for his own article. WanderingWanda (talk) 21:40, 4 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Add pictures

[edit]

This article would be better if it included little pictures of the characters next to their descriptions, so the reader could find/recognize them even if she doesn't know their names. Verdlanco\talk 08:55, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Grimsby:

His age is NOT 200! People are always saying it is, but it’s NOT! He is actually 73! This is the truth people. Yas! 😎😎😎😁😁😁 2600:100F:B018:127E:1DFD:AFBE:3933:8317 (talk) 01:55, 23 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
