Episode templates

[edit]

The following message originally came from User talk:Ned Scott [1]:

I apologize, I just thought that, as an anime series, it should be in the designated anime format. It has worked for many series before (see: List of Fullmetal Alchemist episodes, List of Oh My Goddess episodes). Also, I find it more aestheticly pleasing when the kanji titles are present. I wish to discuss this further so that we may come to a reasonable conclusion, please respond at the Talk:List of Lady Oscar episodes page. - ChibiViqor 09/14/06

As suggested, discussion continues here:

{{List of Anime Episodes TV}} isn't the designated anime format, it just is titled to include the word anime. {{Japanese episode list}} was created for use on anime lists, but I titled it as "Japanese" instead of anime to be more flexible. Neither has "official" status, but Japanese episode list is one of the WikiProject List of Television Episodes templates. Japanese episode list is used by over 50 articles (most, if not all, anime), while List of Anime Episodes TV is used by under 10. I'm a bit confused when you say that the kanji titles aren't present, since.. they are.
If you really want to use List of Anime Episodes TV then do so, but to me it is not the better of the two. I only switched it here because I did not think you where aware of the other template. -- Ned Scott 04:47, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
First, to clear things up, I did not say that the Kanji titles are not present in the {{Japanese episode list}} format, only that I found it more aesthetically pleasing to not have the English title, Romaji title, and the Kanji title all in the same box. However, I must thank you for clearing up a misunderstanding on my part. I am new to the community and made the (aguably) logical assumption that since there was a format called "List of Anime Episodes TV", that it was designed specifically to be used for anime. The presence of a {{Japanese episode list}} format and a "List of Anime Episodes TV" format led me to the conclusion that one was to be used with anime (as the title suggests), leaving the other for Live action programs such as Dramas.
I shall leave it the way it is, as you are quite obviously the senior member, and only hope that you will forgive my misstep so that we can prehaps work more amicably together in the future. -- ChibiViqor
Don't do it because I've "been here longer", and you don't need to apologies. Conversations like these are very common on Wikipedia, and they're not bad at all. Like I said before, I personally like one template over the other, but neither are "official". I don't want the template to be used if it was because I intimidated someone. Even if we were to completely disagree on something like this, that would not stop us from being able to work together on articles, nor would I take it personally. Your opinion always counts, no matter how new you are. -- Ned Scott 06:46, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that an opinion should count no matter the experience of the user. I was not entirely clear on my meaning, what I ment was more along the lines of "I didn't know that" and "based on the evidence presented and at hand, I am led to the conclusion that the episode list should stay in the format that it is currently in because it appears to be more widely spread and more commonly known." --ChibiViqor 8/16/06
