Expression Error

[edit]

Most of the table has expression errors in the Location column. Playing with it a bit, I see that where the lat/long numbers are left out of the coord template, it produces an error. I will make my project today to go through and remove the coord links or add the coordinates from BCGNIS to make them work. At the same time, I think it would be useful to have a link to BCGNIS built in to the table. I will experiment with a way to do that. --KenWalker | Talk 19:37, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Don't think an in-=built code swill work because of internal "disambiguation" within BCGNIS; ; you'd have more than one potential entry in many cses; to know if it was designated settlement, locality, bay, whatever. The problem you see is invisible in my browser, as I said on my talkpage; I see the little globe symbol and nothing else in the blank ones.Skookum1 (talk) 22:32, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

BCGNIS latlongs

[edit]

I've just cruised a number of the new locations; they're all close enough for now, but adjustments should be made to "fine tune" them; Bradian's is off by a mile at leasts, and so's is Bralorne's; Garibladi's had an umerical error but even after correction it's not quite on-site; Agerton's latlong as given by BCGNIS is the village of Pemberton, at the junction; but even in teh writeup on BCGNIS it says it was a mile east. Thte Bridge River listing seems to be the Bridge River Mining District as opposed to Bridge River, British Columbia; the former had the same postal address (see Bridge River, British Columbia]) so ehnce the gazetting confusion; South Shalath in its heyday was always also known as Bridge River (where I'mfrom) but it was nver a postal address or official name in any way, other than the Bridg River Twoownsite of the power projecct/company. Sojme like Blackfoot are going to take a read-up in Paterson or Basque, where the exact locations are dsecribed.... BTW did you see my alphebet-breakdown of List of ships in British Columbia? Don't think it'll work here because it reduces sortability, which I htink is a good thing. Been poking at resourcse on a few of these; Camp McKinney and certain others; maybe I'll stub a few up; I'm running out of wikipateince/energy and may wikibreak again in the next while; too much of my real life to try and get rolling , or rockign as the case actually is....still gotta get at the Shuswap /Thompson steamboats....grrr4Skookum1 (talk) 04:13, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lost Communities

[edit]

Should communities like Garret BC that are now at the bottom of a dam reservoir (Buttle_Lake) be included as well? There is literally no mention of this community anywhere on the web to be found. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rockeiro (talkcontribs) 15:41, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinate error

[edit]

{{geodata-check}}

The coordinates need the following fixes:

  • Write here

The coordinates to Barkley Valley come up correctly but are labeled as Barnet. Not Barkley Valley. Rick0105 (talk) 09:36, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Both the coordinates of Barkley Valley and Barnet appear to be correct. — TRANSPORTERMAN (TALK) 16:20, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I just seen an episode of Life After People ("Last Supper") where they featured Tranquille, Kamloops quite clearly as a ghost town but I couldn't find it on this list.. what am I missing here? Is it only partially a ghost town and so doesn't qualify for this list? -- œ 03:49, 4 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

BCGNIS server name

[edit]

the new name for this server is http://apps.gov.bc.ca/pub/bcgnws so the table is full of dead links it's a little more than search and replace - .html needs to be added as well Dougmcdonell (talk) 20:00, 17 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
