[edit]Anyone else feel that Daft Punk doesn't belong on the list? I don't have a recollection of every song in their discography, but I can't think of one that falls in the category of IDM. --16bitsocialites 10:56, 05 Feb 2008
I agree. I'd say Daft Punk is fairly typical acid/techno without the glitchy/weird element that characterises IDM. Also: Bjork? Jesus. 217.42.87.28 (talk) 17:42, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
We need WAY more artists. I figured we'd need a list like this to expand interest in the genre, or something like that. --Felixed 19:45, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
Ulrich Schnauss has no business on this list. The wiki page on him doesn't describe him as IDM and I don't think anybody who's ever listened to him would either. (that's not to say he's not a good artist, just not IDM) dzhastin (talk) 19:04, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
--Mikejcosta (talk) 15:06, 16 December 2009 (UTC) Ellen Alien, Modeselektor, Orb, Solvent, Telefon Tel Aviv, Lemon Jelly, Mouse on Mars, Banco De Gaia, might not belong on this list. While all excellent artists, including them would be watering down the very specific genre of IDM.
I disagree, I think at least Mouse On Mars do belong to this list, and a lot of artists are missing. IDM does not really meet any standard, It's more a question of approach than "there must be this glitch or this break in it". It can be weird, naive, deep, minimal, emotional, brutal, with or without broken beat. I think what makes it "IDM" is that it is an evocative, quite complex, aesthetic and both counterintuitive music. 217.109.211.214 (talk) 16:10, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
It just makes me laugh. Some one (always the same guy?) keeps removing Leftfield from this list. Same as 3 years ago. -andy 92.229.184.188 (talk) 17:36, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
Alphabetizing Proper Names: First or Last name?
[edit]Looking at the list, it appears we need to make up our minds as to how solo artists using their proper names are alphabetized. Personally, I've always gone by the first name since band names and monikers would work the same way. I may clean this up in the near future if no one objects. - Since no one objected in the last several months, I went ahead and re-alphabetized the list using the first names of proper name entries as most other musical artist lists. StuOnThis (talk) 19:10, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
