[edit]The first version of this article was based on a portion of this version of the Wayne Rooney article. The Rambling Man (talk) 08:57, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
Penalties
[edit]As both Lampard's and Rooney's goal tally is influenced by penalties, these should be included so he can be compared to other England strikers for goals in open play. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.110.239.227 (talk) 11:54, 19 September 2015 (UTC)
England's score first
[edit]The table should list England's score first, just like in the corresponding article on Bobby Charlton's goals. It is less confusing, and there is no need for bolding and asterisks.

Notability?
[edit]Just a quick question - I was wondering if "List of international goals scored by Wayne Rooney" is a notable subject for its own dedicated list page? Sure, he's scored the most for England now, but we wouldn't generally have a list for every player who scored goals internationally, outside their own article. I'm not sure what the general notability guidelines for lists are, so this is just an open question. Thanks — Amakuru (talk) 10:12, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
- Well, the number of England goals scored by Rooney has been covered by numerous reliable sources as a subject of its own, so yes, I think it's notable enough for its own page. And no, we don't have lists for everyone, mainly because those lists can be easily incorporated into the player articles themselves. The Rooney article is already too large to easily and neatly incorporate this information. There's been plenty of chat about this subject matter at WT:FOOTBALL if you're interested in checking through the archives. The Rambling Man (talk) 10:49, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
- Alright then, that makes sense. Thanks for your reply. — Amakuru (talk) 11:03, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
Information about the goals
[edit]This is fine as a list of matches in which Rooney scored but doesn't tell you that much about the goals themselves. Were they scored with the left foot, right foot or head? Were they from inside the box or outside? Were they from a penalty, free kick or open play? Who provided the assist? What minute of the match were they scored in? etc. --Jameboy (talk) 18:15, 12 June 2016 (UTC)
- I feel that level detail would be OTT, I'd say it's fine as it is. Mattythewhite (talk) 20:42, 12 June 2016 (UTC)
