Renaming (2008)

[edit]

On the 6th of November, this article was nominated for deletion. The consensus was keep so I closed the discussion. However, a suggestion was made to move/rename the article to "List of extreme points". (no caps) I'd like some opinions about this before I go BOLD and change it. --Ron Ritzman (talk) 00:47, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I feel stupid. It was already moved :) --Ron Ritzman (talk) 00:49, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rename? (2011)

[edit]

The name of this article is awfully redundant... in the past this was called List of extreme points and Lists of extreme points. Both sound better than this. Anyone else up for a rename? ThemFromSpace 01:01, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 2013

[edit]

The result of the move request was: Move. There is clear consensus to move away from the current title, and the proposed one has the best support. Cúchullain t/c 17:00, 11 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

List of extreme point listsLists of extreme points – The article formerly had this title, and the move to the present title was done without prior discussion. The awkward grammar of the present title, in which the phrase "extreme point" acts as an adjective, makes it difficult to understand. A look at Category:Lists_of_lists and List of lists of lists shows that Lists of foo is customary whereas List of foo lists is not. —rybec 23:53, 31 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Because "List of Xs" asserts a listing of Xs? How can the logic be any more simple? --SmokeyJoe (talk) 22:25, 9 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
So you'd like to see all those other articles renamed, then? WP:CRITERIA also says articles should be concise. It's not that your proposal is wrong or misleading or anything—just that it doesn't fit as well with our naming criteria as the original proposal. --BDD (talk) 22:35, 9 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe it is OK. I had missed an s. It is not a "List of Xs" but is "Lists of extreme points", so it is not strictly speaking inaccurate. I guess that this is a "Use the singular form" vs conciseness. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 00:12, 10 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
