Fair use rationale for Image:Angkor.jpg

[edit]

Image:Angkor.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 20:27, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup needed

[edit]

Only the final sentence cites sources. The article uses 'we' and 'us' as if written by a family member, and is written like a reverent homage. To see what a biographical article that's written up to encyclopedia standards looks like, see the Loke Wan Tho article on Singapore Infopedia, at http://eresources.nlb.gov.sg/infopedia/articles/SIP_782_2005-01-19.html --Zahzuhzaz (talk) 02:52, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The cleanup messages that were added were removed with no changes made and no reason given, so I just restored them. Shooting the cleanup messages does not improve the article. Lack of sources supporting the claims is not the only problem. As the "peacock" message says: "...instead of making proclamations about a subject's importance, use facts and attribution to demonstrate that importance." Specifically, there needs to be facts or attribution to demonstrate these proclamations of the subject's importance:

"His greatest legacy, however, was to his family: he set a priceless example to many of us and today we owe our love of fauna and flora, our various interests in sport and academia, our passion for collecting art and our contributions to society to his direct influence.

He played a good game of golf...He had a love for cars and imported the second Porsche into Singapore but he also took pleasure in simple things like ice cream and his dogs."

All this is in a section titled "Business Career". While the intention of such claims may be to bestow honor, they are so misplaced in an encyclopedic article that they can only bring ridicule. Someone with knowledge of the subject needs to do some cleanup. --Zahzuhzaz (talk) 15:51, 27 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
