Northern-born Confederates are always a curiosity. I think it should be standard to quote their reasons for siding with the South. Did Lomax marry a Southern girl (the commonest reason)? Was he born in the North, only because his father was posted there in the military? Did his Virginia-born father instil strong pro-Southern sentiments?
