This REDIR page has been proposed for deletion
[edit]I have proposed this redir-page MCT (rocket engine) for deletion. See the rationale below. More input from other editors is desired. Cheers. N2e (talk) 17:46, 19 December 2012 (UTC)
As of 2012-12-19 at 17:45 UTC, the status of the redir discussion is:
- ====MCT (rocket engine)====
- Delete — as the creator of this article in October 2012, I propose the redir for deletion because the MCT rocket engine does not exist, as confirmed now by the company, and the existence of the redir in Wikipedia implies (incorrectly) otherwise. The early news reports were wrong, and have since been corrected. Cheers. N2e (talk) 13:42, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
- There is a fuller discussion of this topic, and a consensus on the matter of the non-existence of this engine development project, on the Talk:SpaceX rocket engine family Talk page. N2e (talk) 16:08, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
- I'd say keep, as these erroneous reports are still floating around the interwebs. In the target article, mention that "several media sources incorrectly stated that the MCT rocket engine...These reports were later corrected by SpaceX..." or something like that. Archive link to the "MCT (rocket engine)" redir discussion
[edit]The shaded text, above section, only shows the comments that came on on the RfD through 19 Dec.
The final discussion, as it ended, had three total comments, one delete and two keep. The archive to that discussion is: Archive of Dec 2012 RfD for "MCT (rocket engine)". Cheers. N2e (talk) 14:21, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
MCT is NOT a rocket engine
[edit]The "SpaceX MCT" is not a rocket engine, as confirmed by the company. There was no consensus to delete this REDIR as a result of the RfD discussion 6 months ago; however, the page name is incorrect as it stands.
Once SpaceX does make more info public as to what the "MCT" is, then it will be appropriate to move this article to a new and more correct name. Based on the Musk interview at the Royal Aeronautics Society last fall, that event is projected to happen sometime in 2013: brief summary, plus link to RAS interview, November 2012. Cheers.
