I do not agree it should be merged with the Macau Grand Prix article because the Guia Race is a world class race - a World Touring Car Championship round - in its own right. It is a round of an important motorsport world championship and thoroughly deserves its own article. Ngchikit

Although I would normaly vote to merge, I am on a 50/50 here, that half as because there this is not a full result, but like the official site which features the first 3 position and is offered in English, which means I do not believe in having a wikipage on a similar one that exists elsewhere. The other half as the that page is plagque with spelling and data errors on drivers and cars (i.e. they misspelled Klaus Ludwig's name) and merging it would clog up the Macau GP page even in a few years time. Make that now 70 to 30 to keep. Willirennen 18.07 27 November 2006 (utc)

Merge discussion

[edit]

I propose a merger of the FIA WTCC Race of Macau article with this one, why? Because they are the same race. Donnie Park (talk) 00:39, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There are pages for all of the other WTCC races, so why shouldn't there be one for Macau? It just messes up the system. - mspete93 [talk] 12:18, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This is a bit like having a separate two articles about the same races regardless if they are the same era or not. I can't see why it complicates the system. The race have always been known as the Macau Guia per WP:COMMON, therefore I stick to my decision. Donnie Park (talk) 16:30, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I do see where you are coming from with this. I may have been a bit defensive at first. I'll have a go at importing some of the WTCC article into this one. After that I guess it's just a case of redirecting the old article to this one. You won't really need to ask anybody else's opinion as I created the WTCC race article and if I'm happy then so be it. I would prefer a merger of the two names, something like FIA WTCC Guia Race of Macau (as per here), as that is it's current title. There could be room for a discussion there. - mspete93 [talk] 16:28, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merge done - mspete93 [talk] 17:50, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The results table needs to be put into reverse order and match the format of other WTCC results tables. - mspete93 [talk] 17:52, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

For your information, this year TCR Asia Challenge will be hosted as a qualifying race for Macau Guia Race, top 8 will be rewarded with entry to the Macau Guia Race. Source: https://www.macau.grandprix.gov.mo/en/news/event/1708.FungTzeLong (talk) 08:44, 29 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Amakuru The new event is TCR Asia Challenge, starting in 2022 as Macau Guia Race - TCR Asia Challenge, but this year TCR Asia Challenge become a separate race. The article is always been about Race of Macau Guia or Macau Guia Race (東望洋大賽).

Agree Macau Guia race has been the most stable name and the one to look for when you want to know all the history. Its the Touring Car race of Macau GP weekend. Rpo.castro (talk) 21:43, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
