There are some great pictures in the Hebrew wikipedia which should be moved to the commons so they can be displayed here also. Jon513 20:38, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Recent edits

[edit]

Recent edits to the article are sourced to non-reliable sources (like tiyul guides) and primary sources (like Facebook) and read more like a newspaper article than an encyclopedic entry. The new section on Internet offerings is beginning to look like original research. Please keep an eye on the tone, and format the references beyond bare URLs. Thank you, Yoninah (talk) 07:36, 6 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Yoninah. I'm a big fan of your contributions and take your comments very seriously. Some of the recent edits have been from MFA and HaAretz, but I'll take a look at everything I've added. I don't think I've added original research, because I've only quoted articles -- but I'll review. I do think the new English and Hebrew websites are significant, as well as the increasing number of tours, and hope you agree those additions add solid information. Again, though, I'll go back and look over everything I've added. Thanks for your comments! I know we both want to make this a very good article.NearTheZoo (talk) 11:47, 6 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm glad you're digging up so many sources and new pictures to improve this article. I added a subhead to separate all the recent changes from the historical background. I'd like to suggest that you try to paraphrase more instead of quoting directly from the newspapers, which is making the article sound very "newsy" rather than encyclopedic. Best, Yoninah (talk) 09:39, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Yoninah! Glad you think the article is improving. I will go over it and change some quotes to paraphrases, as you recommend. I thought "pre-holiday and holiday" made sense because of holidays like tu B'Shevat, Purim, and Hanukka, when the shuk is open -- but I won't change it back, and leave that decision to you. (Maybe "pre-holy day and holiday"? Or just "holiday offerings"?) I also left you a note on your user page on wikimedia. Did you see that? Many thanks for your help. Shabbat Shalom!
