Clean up

[edit]

@Beemer69 This article is a real deal. I appreciate your contributions to Kitana's article and hope you can clean up this messy article too. Thanks. 39.50.240.146 (talk) 14:02, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, that one's a whopper. Thanks for your edit, and I'll take a look after Kitana is wrapped up. Cheers. sixtynine • whaddya want? • 14:28, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I will get to this soon. Has one ever considered Magneton? Pokelego999 (talk) 19:11, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Six GA Criteria

[edit]

1. Article is well-written. Very minimal mistakes if any at all.

2. No OR, all info is cited in the article.

3. Coverage is broad in depth and focus. Shows multiple aspects of the character.

4. Article appears neutral, and does not appear to hold a significantly negative nor positive stance on the subject.

5. Article appears stable. Does not appear to have had any major vandalism occur.

6. Article uses three fair use images with proper rationale. I do believe the Chun-Li/Mai poster may be a bit unnecessary, however.

Lead

[edit]

-Looks good

Conception and creation

[edit]

-"before changing her attire to incorporate a bustier" Is this the intended wording, or is this a typo?

  • Correct wording, it's referring to the clothing item. Wikilinked to be safe.

Appearances

[edit]

-Looks good

Promotion and merchandise

[edit]

-"Mai has been used extensively by SNK to promote their games, other products ranging from clothing items to condoms, and the company as a whole." This sentence makes very little sense and is very confusing.

  • Reworded.

Critical Reception

[edit]

-Is the Bahia thesis a reliable source?

  • It is published, and I used in Baiken with little issue.

Overall

[edit]

-Just need a few clarifications both per above and per the source spotcheck below. Let me know if you have anymore questions. Overall, great work for such a large article. Has one ever considered Magneton? Pokelego999 (talk) 00:28, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Source Spotcheck

[edit]

Took a random selection of sources to verify content for.

11: The site linked in this doesn't seem to reference Mai at all, though I may just be missing where this information can be found.

  • Archived version has the info about her original design.

27: Verifies that Mai appears in Gal Fighters

40: Verifies that Mai appears in Neo Geo Infinite Shooting

46: The citation lacks a link, but the information appears accurate.

51: Neither source refers to Mai being in '97 OL, though she appears in images. If possible, please find a source listing her appearing in the text body, but this shouldn't be too much of an issue overall.

  • Are you sure? She's even in the screenshots on both references. Do a string search for "不知火舞", it's her name in Chinese.

63: Verifies Mai's appearance in Samurai Showdown Slash.

99: Verifies Mai's appearance in the film and her association with Iori Yagami.

103: Verifies Mai's role in the film.

126: Verifies the appearances of Mai's outfit in King of Soldier II.

133: Verifies the appearances of Mai's outfit in Phantasy Star Online 2.

159: Source says what is cited in the article. This citation is a bit trivial though, so I do worry it's inclusion here may be unnecessary.

164: Source says what it is cited for.

186: Does not verify info it is cited for, and instead links to an entirely unrelated article about gambling. This should be fixed.

  • Not sure if it's a bug, article is a synopsis of the movie mentioned.

Earwig detects at max a 17% similarity, which hails from the BTVA cite, and is primarily just the fact both reference the same names and game titles. This shouldn't be an issue.

@Kung Fu Man 11 and 186 are verified, still would appreciate an in-text body cite on 51 in case images go kaput at some point in those sources, though. Has one ever considered Magneton? Pokelego999 (talk) 01:32, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
She shows up in the text for both. I sent you a screenshot of each to confirm.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 01:52, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Seems to be verified. I've got no other issues, so I'm happy to pass the article. Has one ever considered Magneton? Pokelego999 (talk) 01:53, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not to put a dent in this review—and admittedly, I haven't taken a good look at the whole article, although it does seem quite well written—I don't see a single mention of Mai's development within the lede. With fictional characters, it's important to include things from both the "Production" and "Reception" sections; not just the latter.--PanagiotisZois (talk) 14:02, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@PanagiotisZois: I will say a lot of times that info isn't always included, but due to the length of this article I definitely get it. I've expanded the lead to include her development info without going too overboard.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 14:55, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Good catch, I completely missed that during my review. Thank you for pointing it out. Has one ever considered Magneton? Pokelego999 (talk) 19:12, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
