Population

The article gives the 2006 population as just over 1000 and the 2011 population as over 2000. It should explain why the population growth rate is so high. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.245.180.2 (talk) 11:01, 20 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It is not that the town's population grew greatly but that there are two kinds of population statistics, the "urban locality" and the "state suburb" which count different populations over different areas. The 2011 is "state suburb" statistic and the 2006 is a "urban locality" statistic. The problem is that many towns like Malanda are both towns and localities so there are these two kinds of population statistics that can be used. Kerry (talk) 23:15, 20 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
