Historical Analysis
[edit]Re: Some modern scholars think that Herodotus' stories about the dynastic links between Cyrus the Great and the kingdoms he later conquered (Media, Lydia and Babylonia) are propaganda.
Why Herodotus would do that propaganda?
Re: Mandane was well below the age of marriage when she was given to Cambyses.
What was the age of marriage those days? My grandmother married at the age of 10 and had her first baby in the first year of marriage and was only 11 years older than her first child! Some girls reach puberty at the age of 8-9! Kiumars 12:14, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
Forget her age when she was given to Cambyses, if she was born in 584BC she's 16 years younger than her son Cyrus II — Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.244.240.82 (talk) 04:41, 22 October 2021 (UTC)
Her original/Median name
[edit]What is her original/Median name? I need it.203.162.3.167 (talk) 12:41, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
- If you find even Old Persian form please add it. You ask a difficult question: The median form is probably completely lost, but Old Persian usually respects the Median form of the words and I could not find the Old Persian form of Mandanae. Xashaiar (talk) 16:29, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
cultural reference
