Trimmed haunting section
[edit]It was overly dramatic and some of the sources weren't there (ghostly sources?) or didn't say what our article claimed. As far as I'm concerned the whole section could go. The obvious non-paranormal explanation is that the businessman was looking for a reason to get out of his contract. Obviously we don't have enough info to put that in the article, but isn't any reasonable non-paranormal explanation better than any paranormal explanation? Smallbones (talk) 16:45, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- I have reverted your edits as you have removed information from reliable sources. If you disagree with what I have done, list your complaints here, or state which sentences you have a problem with. The first thing that occurred to me when I heard this story is that the guy was looking for a reason not to pay the mortgage on the house, but saying "it's haunted" would not stand up in court. Worse still, it would deter people from buying the house. Of course, if you can provide a reference that he was lying, please add it t the article. Nev1 (talk) 01:06, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
- So the BBC and The Telegraph aren't reliable sources? If you feel that way, post a note on WP:RS/N. Nev1 (talk) 01:11, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, I left in the parts from the BBC (Nottinghamshire), the Telegraph, and the Independent. But the sources [1] in which there is nothing in the article about the building (only in the reader comments below), and http://www.thisisnottingham.co.uk/news/Clifton-Hall-Creepy/article-345680-detail/article.html in which the strongest claim is that
- BANK worker Tracey Collins was a pupil at Clifton Hall in the 1970s when it was a girls' grammar school and recalls numerous tales of ghostly goings-on.
- "I never saw anything myself but everybody used to talk about it," she said.
- No, these are not reliable sources for the claims made. Mostly however the edits were done because the whole writeup about it was completely overblown, wordy, and sensationalist. All that is needed is "According to the BBC, Mr. X said Y."
- I've already put the Fort Mifflin material up at WP:RSN and will add this. Smallbones (talk) 08:42, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

I used to work there about three ago, I once experienced paranormal activities when I was in the kitchen working and out of the sudden some I heard knocking straight after the noise the tap came on gushing water out for about five seconds then stopped. I did not believe in ghost until I worked there, I tried replicate this and I turned on the tap how ever you have to turn the tap about a quarter for it to pour out, how this happens I don't no. They is one hallway on the top floor that Leeds to a bedroom that made me allways afraid and spooked me it was allways so cold like very cold. I used to work alone in there I was allways spooked because it felt as if the history was still alive. I have experienced plenty of door slammings and knockings on walls and doors, you can be all normal and fine in that house and all of sudden be spooked up and have goosebumps as if somebody was there, this happend alot to me. They is a room in there that has loads of small paintings on the wall of the family members, far as I am aware it is called a patent room? Beleaved to be only two rooms like the UK and Clifton manor has one of them, with a bare trap inside. I have beautiful pictures a few inside the rooms and one of a painting that has been painted on three planks of wood.

Everybody in Nottingham knows it was another dodgy deal from Chek whyte Jim123786 (talk) 01:38, 7 October 2016 (UTC)
Repossessed
[edit][2] Is there any evidence that they ever left? --Old Moonraker (talk) 11:19, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Clifton Hall web site
[edit]The old page is no longer accessible, but the recent replacement in "External links" is a circular link: their effort contains a large part lifted, without acknowledgement, from here. As in the past I've had to defend an editor, who had his work reprinted elsewhere, against charges of plagiarism I thought I'd pre-empt any such misunderstandings here. --Old Moonraker (talk) 17:48, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
Why was Chek whyte not mentioned ?
[edit]He was involved in it before the haunted fella Jim123786 (talk) 01:39, 7 October 2016 (UTC)
- @Jim123786: There were no reliable sources cited for the assertion. —C.Fred (talk) 01:47, 7 October 2016 (UTC)
