The author of this totally obscur article should at first try to find out the difference between astrology and astronomy. Siffler 09:45, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Without astrology there would be no astronomy.--KTo288 (talk) 06:02, 13 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Can a wikipedian try to understand the meaning of these sentences, please?

However, considerable parts of the structure are found in the ruins, the stone building and the astrological sign which crosses the 28-meter wide observatory that determine the direction of the star are wide displays the the glorious prerequisite of this historical place .

At the time entering the observatory, a visitor is impressed by the precision of the astrological angles that once were based on the Meridian, and also by using Maragheh as the datum point for arranging time zones throughout the world. Siffler 12:37, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Trubbles

[edit]

Well, there is a lot wrong. How about starting with:

Maragha astronomers also realized that the Aristotelian view of motion in the universe being only circular or linear was not true, as the Tusi-couple showed that linear motion could also be produced by applying circular motions only.

This is incoherent. What is it trying to say? William M. Connolley (talk) 22:23, 22 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Visual Upgrade

[edit]

Adding more pictures of the Maragheh observatory would greatly help people visualize the greatness of the observatory. A reader seeing pictures of the inside of the observatory and the tools of the observatory would help people understand that this observatory was at the top during its time. It would also be more visually appealing to draw readers into instead of seeing only the outside pictures of a dome. Heres a site with good pictures and more information if you wanted to update the page. Edits made to History section

[edit]

I added a sentence to the history section stating the year the observatory was built. As I make more edits I plan to add more to the history section about the construction and history of the observatory itself, not just Tusi's use of it as the section is now.

I am adding a sentence to mention that the facility had a higher emphasis on education than most other observatories. Krtsstko2 (talk) 16:31, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have begun to edit the history section for clarity to make the wording less awkward. Jpegthebitmap (talk) 17:13, 21 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, I did my best to weave together what the Fall Semester WikiEdu group from Missouri S&T did with what was added afterwards by the other group from Texas Jpegthebitmap (talk) 19:11, 9 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Small additions to current status

[edit]

Added a line under the current status heading that states the current care takers and when they started protecting the site.

Section additions and article improvements

[edit]

Over the next few days I will be moving information about Tusi to its own section as well as adding a Astronomers working at the observatory and the sub headings for Tusi and two other notable astronomers that worked at the observatory. FredHGroth (talk) 03:17, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Section additions and article improvements

[edit]

I will be adding new information and rearranging the text of certain sections of the article to make it more informative and make more sense to the reader. The sections I will be editing are Description and History. I will also add a new section called Hulagu Khan: Patron of the Observatory. Karidappen (talk) 17:41, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Folding section on Hulagu into History

[edit]

This being a separate section does not make very much sense; I am going to work on integrating Hulagu's impact into the history section. Jpegthebitmap (talk) 17:29, 21 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have rewritten the history and description sections to improve readability and fold in the relevant information from Hulagu Khan; I will begin editing all of it in. Krtsstko2 (talk) 17:11, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Additions and Edits to Current Status

[edit]

I'm going to rename that section to Excavation and Current Status so I can add more details on the site itself and the uncovering of the ruins. Krtsstko2 (talk) 17:33, 2 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
