German article
[edit]Hello just wanted to say that there is a German wikipedia page on Matthew MacFadyen. Could anyone add the link on the left side since I wouldn't know how to do it. (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_MacFadyen) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.93.199.132 (talk) 15:41, 12 September 2005 (UTC)
- Done! :-) For the record, what you do is put in the name of the article on that country's Wikipedia in square brackets, the same as you would a normal link, but put the country code and then a colon in front of it, for example [[de:Matthew MacFadyen]]. You put that at the bottom of the page. Angmering 15:51, 15 September 2005 (UTC)
Page name
[edit]Hi, I need someone's help as well. The name is not written correctly: it should be Matthew Macfadyen and not "MacFadyen." There is no capital "F" in the name. Can anyone correct this and also corrcet the name in the link of the picture featured on the site so that it will pop up with the right name. Thanks a lot. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.93.175.74 (talk) 02:58, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
- Entirely my fault — I created the article originally, and all I can say is that it's obviously sloppy research on my part, or a gross inattention to detail at any rate. I have now moved the page to the correct spelling. Angmering 08:07, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
That's alright Angmering, apart from the name, it was actually not sloppy research. By the way, could you also change the German Matthew Macfadyen wikipedia page? That'll be great. Thanks again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.93.175.82 (talk) 12:59, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
- I'll give it a go, although I don't speak German so I'm going to have to rely on the never-entirely-reliable Babelfish to provide an edit summary for them! Angmering 15:01, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
- Hmmmmmm, can't seem to find a page move button there. Actually, you probably need an account to move pages, and obviously I don't have one for the German wikipedia. However, looking at the German article's talk page they do seem to be discussing the issue there, so I expect they'll move it soon, especially as our page has moved — somebody has already changed the link to the English version there. Best known
[edit]Shouldn't that be changed now to best known for his role as Mr. Darcy in P&P? I know I'd never heard of him until then - plange 18:19, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
- Depends where you're from I expect. Pride and Prejudice might well have brought him to the attention of, for example, US audiences for the first time. I don't know. But Spooks was certainly a very big show in the UK when he was starring in it. Angmering 20:12, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
- I think you're edit is fine, my point was that just saying "best known" without the qualifier of "best known in the UK" disregarded the fact that to the rest of the world he was largely an unknown...plange 20:23, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
- Probably true, but if it was adopted as a standard we'd have to go around adding "best known in country X for..." to thousands upon thousands of Wikipedia articles. Angmering 22:18, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not suggesting that at all, I just thought it was weird to just say best known for Spooks without mentioning P&P at all. It seemed like it was a sentence written before P&P (when that statement would have been okay) and I just thought it should be update like you did...plange 22:23, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
I think Matthew is now best known for the TV show Succession, and the lede needs to be changed as such. Perhaps a few of his more minor roles could be dropped to further down. naivesuper 16:50, 15 September 2019 (UTC)
Burmese?

Another MM
[edit]There is another Matthew Macfadyen who is a famous Go player. He has won the British Championship about 25 times.--ZincBelief 15:02, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
- I have to confess I don't even know what "Go" is. But if you can find enough independent reliable sources to write a page for him, then we can always have a disambig header at the top of this one. Angmering 15:36, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
- Well you can look at Go_(board_game) to find out about it. There are lots of Go links about him, but I'm not sure it's worth giving him a page. http://senseis.xmp.net/?MatthewMacfadyen , http://www.jklmn.demon.co.uk/ , http://www.amazon.com/Game-Go-Matthew-MacFadyen/dp/1858687225 , http://www.britgo.org/bchamp/history.html http://www.eurogofed.org/results/hofpast.htm , http://lnx.agi.go.it/EGD/Player_Card.php?key=10249019 —The preceding unsigned comment was added by ZincBelief (talk • contribs) 14:32, 8 May 2007 (UTC).
Proposal for New Voice-Over Category
[edit]I believe that Matthew has undertaken a substantial amount of voice-over work, for example on a two-part BBC series on former UK prime-minister Tony Blair (released in Australia as "Blair"). Perhaps we could establish a voice-over section in addition to the filmography? I believe he is managed in this work by "Earache" (see http://www.earachevoices.com/guys.html). Thanks for your time. How to pronounce the name?
