Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry → Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (Malaysia) – While the current name is unique in English Wikipedia, the naming of the ministry is very generic and the country may not be clear to readers at first glance. The proposed rename follows WP:TITLEDAB. RevelationDirect (talk) 04:03, 20 April 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (投稿) 17:58, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
- Note This article was recently boldly moved by @CambridgeBayWeather: to reflect the new name of what was the "Ministry of International Trade and Industry". At the same time the "(Malaysia)" parenthetical was removed. This nomination seeks to accept the first change and reverse the second one. RevelationDirect (talk) 04:12, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
- Just noting this article was previously named Ministry of International Trade and Industry (Malaysia) because there is another article titled Ministry of International Trade and Industry about a former ministry of Japan. The new title Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry is unique, however. Station1 (talk) 19:12, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
- Opposed. The current title reflects Wikipedia:Article titles#Precision and disambiguation. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 12:25, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
- Hit save to quickly. The country is given in the first sentence. I also wanted to point out that the name follows other government departments such as Department of Health and Social Care in the UK, Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage in Ireland, and Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock in Afghanistan. In other words the Wikipedia standard is not to use the "(country)" if the title is unique. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 12:34, 20 April 2023 (UTC)

Would support Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry → Malaysia Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 22:50, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
- Proposed alternative title withdrawn since it would be inconsistent with other main title headers under Category:Federal ministries, departments and agencies of Malaysia. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 23:03, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
- Support — match most other such ministries in Category:Federal ministries, departments and agencies of Malaysia. WP:PRECISION:
seeking a more natural and recognizable title which is also consistent with most other articles.
This is not a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Just like Leeds or M-185.
William Allen Simpson (talk) 08:15, 26 April 2023 (UTC) - Support per WP:RECOGNIZABLE and WP:CONSISTENT. There's no way that 99.9% readers infer what country the article is about other than reading it. Removing the country just because we can helps on one, and conciseness is not a virtue in itself. - Oppose The purpose of parenthetical disambiguation is to disambiguate from other articles, not to engage in speculation about what is recognizable or treat fundamentally different cases as if they were the same. * Pppery * it has begun... 17:19, 26 April 2023 (UTC)
- WP:TITLE:
the ideal article title precisely identifies the subject; it is short, natural, distinguishable and recognizable; and resembles titles for similar articles.
The only virtue of the current title is that it's dozen characters shorter than the proposed one; we do not have to "speculate" that no one outside Malaysia would not recognize it, it's just common sense. No such user (talk) 11:16, 27 April 2023 (UTC)

- Support. I would presume without disambiguation that this article pertains to Japan's MITI. Japan's MITI is quite well known, certainly far better known than Malaysia's, although very few are exactly sure what the acronym stands for. It is useful to disambiguate. There is only gain by this move, and no loss. Walrasiad (talk) 21:05, 7 May 2023 (UTC)
- The Japanese one is at Ministry of International Trade and Industry. I can hardly blame you for failing to spot the difference :). No such user (talk) 12:50, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
