So-called "Controversy" - sic
(Moved discussion to Talk:Mobil 1. -- Petri Krohn 08:25, 15 February 2007 (UTC))
No, this does not belong here
I deleted:
"In the United States it is marketed as a fully synthetic oil, but motoring enthusists have questioned its compositions."
In several countries Mobil 1 is sold as a fully synthetic motor oil. That's because it is a fully synthetic motor oil.
The fact that a few folks with some sort of axe to grind think - contrary to their nation's laws and a decade-old industry practice - that a product containing Group III is not "synthetic" doesn't belong here.
I am going to ask to have this entry frozen until some of us who actually know something about the topic can eliminate all these editorial comments and irrelevant material if this continues. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eblem (talk • contribs) 10:49 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Nothing gets added without a proper source
If anyone needs to reaquaint themselves with Wikipedia:Citing sources it's there for the looking. A good rule of thumb: if you add a new sentence, have a reference tag at the end. Reference tags should be used, not hyperlinks in the article. Sources and citation are one of the most important rules of Wikipedia; there's a push for quality. If you want to add, cite it and make sure the source is approved at Wikipedia:Citing sources. There is no work-around for this. --DavidShankBone 15:55, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Mobil 1: high quality?
Shiver me timbers!!!!! Reading this:
Mobil 1 is a leading brand of high quality motor oil." Arrrrrrr.... who is to say that Mobil 1 is a "high quality" product? That is a subjective declaration that borders on possible advertising in this Old Coot's opinion. 68.13.191.153 05:56, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Exxon to Lukoil?
Is there a source for most Exxon stations converting to Lukoil in NJ? In my neck of the woods, not one has changed. In fact, we've lost more Sunoco stations than Exxon stations to Lukoil. If I don't see a source in the next week or two, I'm taking it out. 12.160.179.2 (talk) 19:38, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
Mobil's strengths and weaknesses as an exploration company
I was an E&P employee from 78-98, and recently posted the comment about Mobil 1 and the corvette (one of which I own). I wonder if this article doesn't deserve some commentary about why the board sold the assets to Exxon? I could write an unflattering paragraph but I'm sure someone from Exxon would delete it.
just wondering —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.69.140.36 (talk) 02:42, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
Cylindrical Gas Pumps
Can somebody get an image, and maybe the story behind those cylindrical gas pumps Mobil gas stations had during the 1970's, that were designed by Eliot Noyes? ----DanTD (talk) 23:42, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
Lukoil stations in central Pennsylvania being converted back to Mobil
I have noticed that many Lukoil gasoline stations, especially in the Lebanon, Pennsylvania area, are suddenly being converted back to Mobil stations as of January 2012. I have not been able to find any news on the Internet regarding this conversion. Bill S. (talk) 21:47, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
Correction for Amount of Petroleum Products in 1935
I'm still not a very confident Wikipedia editor, so would somebody else please make the following correction? The article presently states that in 1935, the company's Staten Island oil port "had a capacity of handling a quarter of million gallons of petroleum products a year". But in the cited Popular Mechanics news article, it is seen that the actual capacity was "more than 250,000,000 gallons", which is a factor of 1000 larger than "a quarter of million gallons". Thanks.
