Note, I came here due to the posting at Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons/Noticeboard#momina_mustehsan. Jytdog (talk) 23:38, 30 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Birth date

[edit]

Birth date was listed as Sept 5, 1993 and sourced to this: "Momina Mustehsan on Coke Studio of internalised misogyny and insatiable tharak". First Post. August 26, 2016. Retrieved August 30, 2016.. That source does not provide that information.

I looked for other reliable sources for her birth date and found none, so took it out, throughout the article. Please do not restore this content without a reliable source as defined in WP:RS. Jytdog (talk) 19:01, 30 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Place of birth and origin

[edit]

Article said she was born in Lahore and that her "origin" is NYC. Source provided in the infobox was

and sources in the body for that were

None of those sources say that.

I looked for other reliable sources for this information and found none, so took it out, throughout the article. Please do not restore this content without a reliable source as defined in WP:RS. Jytdog (talk) 19:18, 30 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Had a word with her yesterday! she was born on september 5 1993 in lahore Immu01 20:20, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
That is not a reliable source. You cannot add content to an article like this without a reliable source. Jytdog (talk) 20:48, 30 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Immu 01 in this dif you added:
"Mustehsan was born on September 5, 1993 in Pakistan. She completed her A'Level from Lahore Grammar School."
and you sourced that to https://www.instagram.com/p/7FG_iOLnS8/ where she (apparently) wrote "September!! 4 days to my birthday!! 😁😁 #Sep5 #Excited"
You added three facts - her birthdate, the location of her birth, and her school. It doesn't say anything about the place of her birth nor school. It says nothing about the year of her birth. And there is no date on it, to know what "four days" is from. The content fails WP:VERIFY and the source is not reliable in any case. please reply here if you don't understand. This is where we need to work out the content and sourcing. Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 23:23, 30 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Note, per WP:SELFSOURCE we can use social media posts she made that say any of those basic facts. Are you aware of any where she uses her own social media to give her whole birthday or where she was born? Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 23:29, 30 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

told her to make a video on instagram stating her date of birth and place of birth. the video will be out soon! will make no further changes until that video is out. Thanks Immu 01 23:48, 30 August 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Immu 01 (talkcontribs)

She can just add it to her twitter or instagram or facebook profile. Doesn't have to be as involved as a video. Something written is more useful, actually. Jytdog (talk) 23:51, 30 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The previous version of this page had an unofficial page as a ref for Faisalabad, Pakistan as her place of birth. I've removed that since it isn't a valid ref. The only official place I can find something related is her FB page which mentions her hometown as Lahore. Shashwat986talk 06:38, 30 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Early life

[edit]

Content on early life was not supported by the sources provided; I looked and did not find reliable sources for it; I removed it per WP:BLP in this diff. This source was cited (and did not support most of the content):

It is a blog and not a reliable source - see WP:BLPSPS. Do not restore this content without a reliable source per WP:RS. Jytdog (talk) 19:30, 30 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable Sources

[edit]

It's hard to find reliable sources, because she hasn't given any specific interviews or details to any media publication. So it's out of question that we should add her date of birth and editors had previously added material about her family that actually was not necessary. Whatever news publication has published about her is because of her appearance in Coke Studio, and no any reliable media has interviewed her. But she did give interviews to some entertainment publications such as youthcorrespondent.com and mangobaaz.com, they sound like some low-level sources, but in Pakistan the source of news are mostly from such publications.

For example this source http://youthcorrespondent.com/2011/12/momina-mustehsan-the-girl-of-pee-jaoun-a-song-by-farhan-saeed/ interviewd her and she answered revealing her birth month and date, Sptember 5 and details from her early career inclduing her education details. So i don't see any problem adding her Birth date and month, with only education details using this source. I know very well that if reliable source are not there is no need to cover the content at all. But the source mentioned above is either not too good, but certainly it can't either be "unreliable". Nauriya (Rendezvous) 14:25, 31 August 2016 (UTC).[reply]

Thanks for talking! Yep. That is a limitation of WP; we need sources that the community finds reliable. I considered that youth correspondent source, and took it out as it is pretty shaky and we take WP:BLP very seriously. But I am on the fence about it. I would be willing to ask at WP:RSN if the community finds it acceptable. I am not sure they will. But how about we try, and if the community finds it OK, we use it? We could also test the "aheartbeats" source in the section above at the same time. Jytdog (talk) 09:52, 31 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Afreen Afreen

[edit]

Add hyperlink to Afreen Afreen in the second paragraph of the page. --Numberguy6 (talk) 04:18, 12 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Winged Blades of Godric! Why many edits were reverted, saying "last good"? Even many of the sourced / good information has been reverted too. For example;

  1. Her '#Personal_life' section: now her engagement has finished;
  2. '#Discography' section: two of her songs "Cricket Jorray Pakistan" and "Mirchi Ko Sprite Kar" have been removed;
  3. Some of the general errors (spelling and symbols) have been re-introduced.

I don't think I find everything "good" in it, it was good then (two months before). Please discuss here, thanks! M. Billoo 03:52, 25 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@M.Billoo2000:---Hi, actually I mass-reverted a bunch of edits because the article had been plagued by numerous edits from sock-puppets,SPA's the quality of the lead(and the entire article) has deteriorated heavily, notwithstanding some of your and other editor's good contributions.I will request you to simply add the beneficial additional info to the article once more.Regrets for the extra work.If you find it bothering, I thing I will do it soon.Winged Blades Godric 08:30, 25 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@M.Billoo2000:---Well, that's how I wanted the article to be.Can you please copy the source-links from the prev. revisions and cite them for the last 3 edits I made to the article?Err!I am on the desktop module from a mobile and it's troublesome..Cheers!Feel free to inform if I missed something important.Winged Blades Godric 08:56, 25 February 2017 (UTC) Winged Blades Godric 08:56, 25 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Winged Blades of Godric: Hi! Ok. Special:Diff/758310381, Special:Diff/755150576, Special:Diff/754782308, Special:Diff/748130909, Special:Diff/747106079. These five of your edits look good, but the one I mentioned above was a heavy revert. Ok, I understand whay you say, we both can work together, Thanks! :) M. Billoo 10:34, 25 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
So many improvements were too missed, and now hard to figure out, what to do now? M. Billoo 04:42, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Improperly sourced biographical content

[edit]

@Saladin1987: In this edit I removed content you previously restored arguing "Don't remove referenced information". Here's the thing: Per WP:BLP, we need impeccable references when dealing with biographies of living people. The content I removed in my edit was attributed to mominamustehsans.com, but there's no obvious indication that this is an established site belonging to the subject. The subject's official Facebook presence doesn't point to that website or endorse it in any way. And since we can't rely on the accuracy of random websites and blogs we find, because anybody can start a blog or website, the content that is attributed to this source cannot be assumed as valid. We need established secondary sources to make the biographical claims that I removed. Thank you, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 03:52, 4 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Mangobaaz published about Momina Mustehsan on 6 September 2017, "… yesterday. The singer of Coke Studio fame has turned 25". According to this, her birthdate is 5 September 1992.

Coming to the point, look below on the page, the "Ko Ko Korina" controversy! Does this really belong to her life to be included in very highlighted way in this bio? And an anonymous reverted my edit twice, calling me fan! What I did, was just put that controversy part under the heading "In the media" with some copyedits, as that is criticism on her performance. The dislikes on YouTube release doesn't make it a highlight here, but can be included in right manner. The revert by that user, also including my edits in Discography table of Coke Studio, really doesn't make sense. Anyone who is reading this text? Please check and comment what to do. Thanks! M. Don't delete the pictures

Please don't remove the photos that I attached to this article. They are captured by me and are verified.--Kskhh (talk) 18:28, 21 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Do not remove or re-arrange pictures

[edit]

Please refrain from removing the picture I have attached with this article. --Kskhh (talk) 15:15, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Kskhh: You have no authority to demand that nobody remove or re-arrange pictures. If another editor wants to do that, that's up to them, and then you would need to seek consensus via discussion for the images you prefer. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:22, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ok. but the images I have uploaded represent the article well that is why I asked. --Kskhh (talk) 15:23, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

"Don't delete", "Do not remove" are not questions, they are demands. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:27, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ok. shall use other words from now on. --Kskhh (talk) 15:28, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
