Proposed merger of Malay states to Monarchies in Malaysia
[edit]Oppose: these two pages have much in common, but "Malay states" is essentially a geographical term with a long history (and with undoubted notability), whereas "Monarchies in Malaysia" is about the ruling institutions of the states, under a title which could be called 'Wikispeak'. I might support a merger in the other direction, that is, to Malay states, as a page for the collectivity of the states seems to me more essential than one about what their rulers have in common, but as the contents expand both may well be needed. - I agree but at the moment the content of Malay states seems to be exclusively about the Federation act and the rest a duplication of this page. Maybe we can merge the duplicated stuff and expand that page in another direction...? Icarustalk 14:50, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry, I don't quite follow that. Do you mean merge content from both to Monarchies in Malaysia and expand Malay states in another direction? Moonraker (talk) 19:46, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
- Yes. Make Malay states about the ethno- and socio-geographical concept, and merge the stuff about politics and monarchies into Monarchies in Malaysia. Icarustalk 11:53, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
- Agree with that. Monarchies in Malaysia always much more political than the modern European concept of monarchies. Moonraker (talk) 00:00, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
