Rename to Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun

[edit]

Per the Crunchyroll streaming [1], this article should be renamed to Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun. However, it has yet to be adapted into English. Is that still OK? -AngusWOOF (talk) 14:54, 9 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

In-manga title

[edit]

With Sentai's licensing of the series with the in-manga title "Let's Have a Romance", this may be the primary title after the home video is published, however, the subtitles from Crunchyroll still use "Let's Fall in Love" for now, so both are acceptable and interchangeable. The manga itself has not been licensed yet. -AngusWOOF (talk) 19:47, 25 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Demographic

[edit]

I've removed demographic from the infobox. This keeps getting changed around without any sources. The next change should require a source. -AngusWOOF (talk) 22:53, 12 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Who's the viewpoint character?

[edit]

It's true that the protagonist is Umetarou Nozaki, but that's only in the official fan book and not in the actual story. In the actual story, the true protagonist is Chiyo Sakura. Chiyo is the one who appeared first and in a lot of clips more that Nozaki in the first three episodes. Not only that, she's also the narrator of the whole story. Please understand that. Eggman2000 (talk) 22:09, 19 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It's just your original research, right? Please indicate a source that Chiyo is the protagonist of this work.
For example, Nobita Nobi appeared first and in a lot of clips more than Doraemon, but the protagonist of Doraemon is Doraemon. --Fuji kyosuke (talk) 23:56, 19 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
On the Japanese Wikipedia, most people agree that Nozaki is the protagonist of this work. A foreign user claimed that Chiyo is the protagonist but his or her edit was reverted because it was just his or her original research.
I say again, you must indicate a citation that Chiyo is the protagonist if you claim so. Or I will revert your original research. --Fuji kyosuke (talk) 00:07, 20 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please avoid labelling any of the characters a protagonist per WP:PROTAGONIST. There's no need to group them as such as it's not a show that noticeably groups good guys and bad guys. For viewpoint character, that's more for the cases where someone's narrating like with light novels or regularly writing a diary as with Aria (manga). As for who should be listed first, both Chiyo and Umetarou appear in chapter 1 and episode 1, so those would be listed. According to both the manga website [2] and the anime website [3], Umetarou is listed first in both cases, so I would list him first and Chiyo second. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 00:23, 20 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@AngusWOOF "Umetarou is listed first in both cases, so I would list him first and Chiyo second."
That's because Nozaki is the title character. Title characters are always listed first. For example: In Golden Time, Kouko Kaga is listed first and is called the heroine, and Banri Tada is listed second and is called the protagonist.
And in Oreimo, Kirino Kousaka is listed first, is called Character No. 01, and is called the heroine, and Kyousuke Kousaka is listed second, is called Character No. 02, and is called the protagonist. Nintenchris5963 (talk) 11:29, 22 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, we can't decide who should be listed from who is the protagonist. I agree with AngusWOOF."According to both the manga website [4] and the anime website [5], Umetarou is listed first in both cases, so I would list him first and Chiyo second." --Fuji kyosuke (talk) 11:03, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see 本作の主人公。 on Nozaki's biography, though. If you believe that's true, please take this to Yumekui Merry and 夢喰いメリー as well as Isuca, Oreimo, and Golden Time. Nintenchris5963 (talk) 11:27, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Official fan book says that Nozaki is the protagonist. And I said not to decide the order of the characters from who is the protagonist so we don't have to discuss who is the protagonist now. What to discuss is what sources should we follow to decide the order of the character. --Fuji kyosuke (talk) 11:53, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Chiyo appears first only in the anime, and Nozaki and Chiyo appears at the same time in the manga. Nobita appears first in Doraemon but Doraemon is listed first and Nobita is listed second. So we can't decide the order from who appears first.
Anyway, we should follow the order of official website, not your original research. If you insist that we should follow who appears first, please indicate policies or guidelines on Wikipedia that says we should do so. --Fuji kyosuke (talk) 12:08, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It's not my original research. And like I said, please take this to Yumekui Merry and 夢喰いメリー as well as Isuca, Oreimo, and Golden Time if you want the official website's order. I said the same thing to TheFarix and Juhachi that we should have the order shown in official websites, but they wouldn't let me. Nintenchris5963 (talk) 13:26, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Nozaki is the protagonist because the official fanbook and tankobon says so, right? And Nozaki is listed first at official websites. We may don't always have to follow the order on the websites, in that case the protagonist should be listed first. But chiyo is not the protagonist and she is listed second on the two websites. Though she is just a viewpoint character, why you insist to list Chiyo first? --Fuji kyosuke (talk) 13:56, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

At least, deciding who is the protagonist from the story is an original research. So we can't say that Chiyo is the protagonist. Or you must indicate a relieable source that says protagonist is Chiyo. Whom we should list first is another problem. As angusWOOF says, we should follow the order of the characters on the official websites. Or indicate the policy or guideline on Wikipedia that says we should list the character who appears first. I don't think there is such a policy on Wikipedia. --Fuji kyosuke (talk) 13:41, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you're looking for a source or a URL, here it is. 207.62.191.10 (talk) 21:19, 23 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
MyAnimeList is not a reliable source. See WP:ANIME/RS AngusWOOF (barksniff) 21:25, 23 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
As a compromise, would it be ok to just call Chiyo as the second main protagonist?Blue Pumpkin Pie (talk) 21:59, 23 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Why? There aren't protagonists or antagonists in the classic sense of opponents for this kind of series. The times when they mention protagonists are in the context of the manga they are creating, like Mikoshiba representing the protagonist Mamiko, or when they are playing the video game's protagonist character. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 22:14, 23 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
never mind. I meant to say main character. protagonist isn't my concernBlue Pumpkin Pie (talk) 22:42, 23 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
FYI, Eggman2000 has been blocked as a sockpuppet of Nintenchris5963. Nintenchris5963 had been previously blocked for edit warning over character order and posting a directed physical threat on my talk page. He somehow wiggled out of the ban for the latter. Nintenchris5963 is an established POV pusher as they stated that they did not like having male characters being main protagonists in works of fiction and wanted to make female characters the main protagonists.[6]Farix (t | c) 14:27, 24 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

What about here? Does this count as a reliable source? 207.62.191.10 (talk) 20:21, 24 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No, that's a website that propagates illegal streams. And even if there's a review from an RS that says Chiyo and Umetaro are protagonists, it does not need to be spelled out in the character description. Again, per WP:PROTAGONIST: "Interpretations in the form of labels (e.g. protagonist, antagonist, villain, main character) should be avoided. A well-written plot summary should convey such roles." The summary's already written. There is no need for further embellishment on protagonist or antagonist. As for main character vs. secondary character, that is indicated by the website characters listings. The manga website [7] displays the 7 main characters (メインキャラクター), arranges them in a lineup, and even has keychain merchandise for each one. It then lists the supporting characters (サブキャラクター) and the two in-manga characters (恋しよっ♥キャラクター). I don't know how much clearer you need to define the list. Does this count as a reliable source? 207.62.190.18 (talk) 22:18, 19 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I say that counts. Technically, they're all main characters. If we order it in order of introduction, Chiyo would be first.Blue Pumpkin Pie (talk) 16:51, 20 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Small error
