Shouldn't the article explain why Zamperini was "a legend to the villagers of Ōfuna," as it states? 38.96.155.221 (talk) 14:17, 3 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Why is the POW Camp Missing?

[edit]

Why isn't there a live link for the Ōfuna POW camp? It was a significant location, mentioned over and over in Captain Zamperini's book (with photo), during WWII, that must not be forgotten or left out of Wikipedia and routine academic searches on this subject matter.

The OFUNA listing ought to list all the names of everyone known to have been a POW there, as well as the Japanese names of the commander(s) and guards, and their ultimate fates.

Class A war criminal status likely wrong

[edit]

I know that we have a source where Zamperini states that Watanabe was a Class A war criminal, but he was almost certainly mistaken."Class A" crimes were reserved for those who participated in a joint conspiracy to start and wage war, and were brought against those in the highest decision-making bodies. Watanabe was a sergeant, a guard at a POW camp, obviously not a position from which someone makes the decision to start and wage war. Zamperini was 81 years old when he said Watanabe was Class A, it was certainly a mistake of age, faulty memory, etc. I will be looking for independent verification, but if I find none, or find information to the contrary, I will be removing the "Class A" claim. Name

[edit]

I only ever see 渡辺むつひろ Watanabe 渡辺 Mutsuhiro むつひろ. It's bizarre that we don't even know how he wrote Mutsuhiro in Chinese characters. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.37.219.157 (talk) 21:32, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

BRD on Legacy section

[edit]

The Legacy section was recently Boldly removed by an editor. I have Reverted that edit per WP:BRD. Let's now Discuss it here.

My rationale was that this person being a named character in two movies, and backed up by sources in reliable source media, are definitely both notable and appropriate for this article. N2e (talk) 12:26, 23 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The boiled one phenomenon

[edit]

Can we stop arguing about whether this should be included?!?! This isn't irrelevant if literally the entire story revolves around this man. The point of Wikipedia is to offer information and if there's ever an argument about whether to include something or not include it, I think you should include it. 2600:1012:B329:EEB:F585:6041:DC21:5D18 (talk) 00:56, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
