Whether to include stats from bowl games prior to 2002 season

[edit]

Official NCAA records do not include statistics from bowl games played before the 2002 season. However, some online recordkeeping sites (such as sports-reference.com) do. Over time, editors of this article have been inconsistent — sometimes inadvertently and other times likely deliberately — with regard to which of these guidelines to follow. In many cases, an editor has moved a pre-2002 player up the list by adding in that player's bowl-games numbers, but has not followed through by updating all other pre-2002 players accordingly. In at least one case, a listed player (Damion Fletcher) was deleted in a perhaps overzealous edit of this sort. Over time, this sort of editing makes the overall ranking relatively meaningless.

I have taken the rather bold step of creating separate tables: one with all yardage shown (including in bowl games prior to the 2002 season), and another that — consistent with official NCAA records — does not. If it is not an ideal solution, it is at least a sincere effort to address the inconsistency of previous editing. 24.243.2.93 (talk) 16:44, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Tavon Austin

[edit]

Given that Austin was a WR who recorded 344 or 345 (depending on source) rushing yards in a game, he should probably be highlighted in a color indicating that, and the text should probably be rewritten for the section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.100.224.89 (talk) 00:54, 6 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
