Current title
[edit]The current title contains, "NTPC, which may be less likely to be searched around by many. I thought about changing it to "2017 Uttar Pradesh power plant explosion" boldly. First, I would like comments please. --George Ho (talk) 18:43, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
"2017 Uttar Pradesh power plant explosion" is better for people like myself whom are not familiar with the districts of India. 'NTPC' is a bit vague from my perspective. — Preceding unsigned comment added by WK E Gillon (talk • contribs) 12:13, 7 November 2017 (UTC)
- I've removed "2017". Wholly unnecessary for the current title and the proposed one. Not in common usage, either. InedibleHulk (talk) 21:17, 8 November 2017 (UTC)
Requested move 9 November 2017
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: no consensus. I don't see much support or agreement here. The opposer's misgivings caused me to check news sources briefly, where I found 226 reports on the present title, 4 reports for the "Unchahar" prefix and only 2 reports for the "Uttar Pradesh" prefix. Of course "no consensus" means that if any editor continues to think there is a better title for this article, they may continue to garner consensus for finding it. Happy Holidays to all! P.S. Should also add that WP:NCE gives more information about using the "2017" disambiguator. PS left by Paine Ellsworth put'r there
NTPC power plant explosion → Uttar Pradesh power plant explosion – I have been thinking about changing "NTPC" to "UP" to increase readers' awareness of this article, especially for future use. Indeed, I am unsure whether people outside India are familiar with NTPC as much as Uttar Pradesh. I started the previous discussion about the current title, but presumably no one declared objections. Still, I had doubts, so I requested a technical request. Due to "2017" being removed as too precise, the request got rejected because other power plant explosions are presumed to have existed. "2017 Uttar Pradesh power plant explosion" is an alternative title to use; I don't mind reinserting "2017". - Original rationale for technical request: "Clearer and more recognizable than NTPC. No objections in the talk page, though "2017" was removed (but can be reinserted if someone objects the year removal)." Moved from above. --George Ho (talk) 17:26, 9 November 2017 (UTC); re-edited twice, 18:28, 9 November 2017 (UTC)

- Is this really the only power plant explosion in UP history? In ictu oculi (talk) 12:48, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
@George Ho and In ictu oculi:
- And there is no guarantee this will remain only incident in UP -Varmapak (talk) 19:28, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
I agree to that but move to rename the artical to ″Unchahar power plant explosion″. Reason being NTPC operates multiple power plants and Feroze Gandhi Unchahar Thermal Power Station is the onlhy power plant in Unchahar. -MarvInIndia (talk) 14:33, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- Hey, Marv. May the above heading be removed please? We should stick to one thread. Thanks. George Ho (talk) 00:01, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose - every reference specifically denotes the location of the tragedy to be the power plant. I'm very dubious about the goal of the move being stated as "to increase readers' awareness". We move things to aid navigation, not to raise awareness for causes. -- Netoholic @ 07:44, 12 November 2017 (UTC)
