Gurdin?

The infobox gives "Natalie Gurdin" as an "alternative name", but the article does not explain where Gurdin came from. Muzilon (talk) 05:32, 12 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

To clarify a prevalent misspelling

The correct spelling of her paternal family surname is, and always has been, Zacharenko (with a "c", not a "k"). It's corroborated by immigration, marriage, and birth records. See, for example, Natalie's paternal grandmother's petition for naturalization^[1] and her parents' marriage registration,^[2] as well as the birth registrations for her paternal first cousin Kaisa^[3] and paternal first cousin once removed Karolyn.^[4] The widely propagated misspelled version ("Zakharenko") stems from Suzanne Finstad's 2001 book. No press articles prior to 2001 about Natalie Wood or her sister Lana ever contained the misspelling "Zakharenko"; it was always Zacharenko.
