Case 13?
[edit]Another PML case reported in Germany, bringing total to (apparently) 13. Dysmorodrepanis (talk) 00:27, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
- There should be some encyclopedic content being generated soon, LOL. Either regulatory or scientific depending on what the deal is with the claim of 23 cases from EMEA. It turns out that med marijuana is reasonably common among MS pataients and that the limited lit on marijuana suggests it could reduce LFA-1 similar to the way Avonex may. This of course could be the thing that finally pushes CNS curveillance into the critical region, just my speculation but will be interesting to follow as more than just "current events" as we are learning a lot here. Non-Pharmaceutical Perspective Needed
[edit]Reports of University search for Nalalizumab (Tysabri) is needed for objectivity. There are many benefits as well as side effects with the drug that are NOT discussed in this Wikipedia article.
Hi, Just wanted to comment on Mech. of action as that it binds to VLA4 directly on the lymphocyte (rather than the VLA4 receptor which is on the endothelial cell).
thank you, — Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.220.15.68 (talk) 05:07, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
Intro sentence hard to understand
[edit]I cannot understand this:
- After a review of safety information and no further deaths, the drug was returned to the US market in 2006 under a special prescription program. As of June 2009, ten cases of PML were known. However, twenty-four cases of PML had been reported since its reintroduction by October 2009, showing a sharp rise in the number of fatalities and prompting a review of the chemical for human use by the European Medicines Agency.
Ten PML cases were known in June 2009. Does this include all cases worldwide that have ever been described, or only cases in the US, or only cases linked to natalizumab, or only cases between 2006 and June 2009? Then we learn that there were 23 cases of PML between the reintroduction in 2006 and October 2009 (again: world wide or just in the US?) This seems to imply that there were at least 13 new cases generated in the four months between June and October 2009. Is that reading correct? What happened in June 2009 that caused the number of PML cases to explode? AxelBoldt (talk) 02:22, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
