Pennine Cycleway

[edit]

@Vavasharp: I'm am unsure why you have replaced the redirect to Pennine Cycleway with this article? As they are both about the same subject a merger will be required. Is this title preferred to 'Pennine Cycleway' for some reason?TiB chat 21:00, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Trappedinburnley:National Cycle Network Challenge rides, which the Pennine Cycleway is an example, tend to be made up of several different NCN routes, eg W2W, Trans Pennine Trail and Way of the Roses. The Pennine Cycleway is made up of two, 68 & 62. I have been working on separating the challenge routes from the numbered routes they use.

As you have pointed out, Route 68 is difficult one to separate for two reasons, all of 68 is on the Pennine Cycleway and 68 is 95% of the cycleway, which makes the two very closely aligned.

Yet Route 68 (not the Pennine Cycleway) is an integral part to other routes like W2W and Way of the Roses so I reasoned that it was appropriate for it to have its own article. Sustrans also has separate pages for The Pennine Cycleway and for Route 68.

Finally, Sustrans have a habit of ditching challenge rides (see White Rose cycle route) but the routes then stick around.

That was my reasoning.Vavasharp (talk) 09:28, 5 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
