DETC

[edit]

I am thinking about adding they are going through DETC acred process....what do yall think? --Super (talk) 01:20, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The DETC website has a different, and perhaps more accurate info listed for their registered address than the pdf printed last month. Updated the address to TN. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 183.3.28.38 (talk) 03:19, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I can't edit the main part of the document for some reason. The link is not showing up. But the statement that Nations University "claims to have applied for accreditation from DEC" implies that it may not be true. The Cited source from DECT clearly states that it has applied, and it is not a claim by the institution but a confirmation by the accreditor.75.223.69.194 (talk) 13:03, 18 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind. I got it to work, and made the change.75.223.69.194 (talk) 13:06, 18 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Name

[edit]

As a board member of NationsUniversity, I'm changing the statement on the official name of the school, which is the one-word "NationsUniversity." Philomathes (talk) 21:14, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Did the school change its official name? --Orlady (talk) 21:33, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It was incorporated as "NationsUniversity" and goes by that name. It may be known as "Nations University" to the extent that the single word with embedded caps is not intuitive to all. Philomathes (talk) 00:36, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I've renamed the article accordingly. --Orlady (talk) 00:42, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Orlady--I was about to ask what the convention would be for naming an article for an entity with such a name. I'm also updating the degree offerings, which have been streamlined. Philomathes (talk) 00:50, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

DETC again

[edit]

I realize that the university does not own this page, however this page has caused us grief with DETC. Furthermore, we have removed the reference you keep citing regarding the update (citation 5).(Jonroy.sloan1 (talk) 16:08, 11 February 2013 (UTC))[reply]

It still appears on the DETC website. . . Mean as custard (talk) 16:12, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Specifically, DETC is still listed as an applicant in this DETC meeting report dated 8 February 2013 (3 days ago). I see no reason not to report that. I cannot, however, find any indication that DETC ever officially stated that NU passed a readiness assessment. I think that item needs to be deleted from the article. --Orlady (talk) 16:20, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the statement about the readiness assessment, seeing no sourcing for it. --Orlady (talk) 18:35, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request on 11 February 2013

[edit]

My name is Jon Roy Sloan, and I am the Director of Communications for NationsUniversity. I respectfully request that any mention of DETC be removed from the NU article featured in Wikipedia until we finish the accreditation process. This places an undue burden upon us. Also, the link (citation 5) has removed and is a dead link that you keep referencing. We have an agreement with DETC that we would not mention them. It is their policy not ours but they asked why we had that on the wikipedi site in violation of our agreement. Thank you.

Jonroy.sloan1 (talk) 16:17, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As noted on your Talk page, this article is about NationsUniversity - it is not owned by or controlled by the university in any way. If your accreditor has any questions, please feel free to direct them to this discussion. I'd also be happy to talk to them via e-mail if they still have specific questions or concerns; I'm just another Wikipedia editor but I work in assessment in higher education so speak the lingo.
And it's interesting to note that the only references we have to your application are from your accreditor's own website. It would be snarky of you to point that out to them but we're happy to explicitly note it ourselves. :) ElKevbo (talk) 16:43, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, a little while before Jonroy.sloan1 posted the request, I had found the current URL for citation 5 and updated the reference citation. --Orlady (talk) 18:37, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the link and the document that was originally hidden on our website. This is in regards to citation 5. We are not found on the page linked in citation 7 so it may be misleading.(173.14.107.42 (talk) 20:14, 11 February 2013 (UTC))[reply]

Hmm... I see that the link I posted no longer works. Earlier today it was working just fine and it wasn't hidden. I found it on the student newsletter page on the NU website. Because the newsletter was published (and I still have an electronic copy), it's still a valid reference, even though it's no longer online. --Orlady (talk) 20:44, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Louisiana? Tennessee?

[edit]

An anonymous IP and now a new registered user have repeatedly edited this article to change the university's location from Brentwood, Tennessee to New Orleans, Louisiana. These changes are not supported by references, as required for verifiability, and they are contradicted by information in the published sources that are cited in the article. Sources (specifically, content on Nations' website) indicate that Nations is registered in Louisiana (possibly West Monroe, Louisiana) and has a mailing address there, but is operated from Brentwood, Tennessee. Without sources to support the assertion that Nations is now operating in New Orleans, I will continue to revert edits that change its location.

However, I did remove the location from the infobox; this is not a significant detail for a school that operates solely for distance education. --Orlady (talk) 15:52, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Some details: In 2008, a user apparently affiliated with Nations created the article and described NationsUniversity as being incorporated in Louisiana, but with offices in Brentwood, Tennessee.[1] Currently, this webpage (which I cited in the article) gives Brentwood, Tennessee, as the address for the "Board of Regents" and New Orleans only as "mailing address". The most recent student newsletter mentions Brentwood twice and Louisiana never. The address in New Orleans may be the address of the law firm that incorporated NationsUniversity in Louisiana. (See search results for other entities associated with the same street address and suite number.) --Orlady (talk) 19:01, 16 August 2013 (UTC) The current catalog[2] also has an address and phone number in Tennessee. --Orlady (talk) 19:08, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I will direct you to our latest newsletter where we announce the address change. [3]

The announcement is on page 4 of the newsletter. I realize it takes time for caches to clear on the servers to reflect these changes. Furthermore, you will find me referenced on the NU website here: [4] and here: [5] at the bottom of the pages.--Jonroy.sloan1 0916 03SEP13 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jonroy.sloan1 (talkcontribs) 14:19, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
