Closure in 2007

[edit]

Here is a report of the Society's closure in 2007.

Perhaps there is a better source in newspapers or elsewhere. --DThomsen8 (talk) 17:50, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Misc info on Newcomen, Newcomen Kittery point property

[edit]

Hi: I happen to spend my summers in one of the newcomen societies old houses on seapoint beach since 1965 or so. Not sure they can be described at "Tudor", they're kind of traditional new england shingled sea coast houses. Can provide photos if anyone cares. Word on the island has always been that they were supposed to have a visit from one of the royal family of England in the 1930's and spent a great deal of effort sprucing things up. The royal (possibly Edward VIII, which would mean an interesting story) cancelled or never showed up after which everyone kind of lost interest. The houses were sold to island resident Rosamond Thaxter around 1953 or so. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.96.165.184 (talk) 23:10, 27 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
