[edit]Played baseball, basketball, and soccer for Mount St. Josephs 38-40. A potent goalscorer primarily in the centerforward position. Played in the Baltimore Catholic soccer league for Santa Maria K. of C. 41-42. Had a trial with Baltimore SC of the ASL from September to November of 1941 before returning to Santa Maria to make a semifinal run at the National Amateur Cup in 1942. Joined Baltimore Americans later in 1942 at age 19 and was joined by his 17 year old brother Charley shortly thereafter. Nick then joined the Army in early 1943. Source: Baltimore Sun.
